please please please tell us about the camera performance.

We only spend a few moments fussing with the camera app, but in that short time we were please to note the impressive quality of photos taken with the Exmor-R module

Engadget says the photos are impressive. Let's hope it is true.

Have you ever been to a Samsung or HTC presentation? It's always a person from the executive team being pushed up on the stage. The presentation is often without understandable English. But who dear saying something negative about the boss. It's a hierarchical organization where no-one further down the ladder will say anything against those with a higher "rang".

A good example by Samsung. I guess you will fall asleep before the 7 minute mark.

You're right, perhaps I'm a little hasty to criticise, especially when my own presentation skills aren't fantastic. But a little presentation training would really add to the excitement of the announcement. Not saying the late great Stevie J wasn't a one off but he knew how to add excitement in a natural and believable way.

Wow, cant wait to get my hands on the xperia s in white...looks awesome...hope its got a matte back like the black one instead of the gloss white ones recently...its a bit of a shame the xperia s doesnt have expandable memory like the ion, bit weird...but maybe I could import the ion from us as an option...anybody know if lte technology is the same worldwide? I.e. will the at&t lte phone work in other countries/networks with lte?

How can they tell us that they were pleased to note the impressive quality of photos taken with the Exmor -R module? They transferred to an laptop and analise them to tell that the pictures are good?? I think they lie us.

If the quality of the pics are much better than galaxy s2 then I will buy this phone. If the pics are ugly as XPeria arc then I wait for samsung galaxy 3.

12 Is not everything.. Good lenses and good compression algorithm is much important that pixels on cmos sensor..

I have a samsung 5 MP phone and compared to xperia ARC 8MP takes much better pictures

Also we need cree or luxeon led for night shots... Samsung already has luxeon leds and maybe will use cree led in galaxy s3.... sony used in xperia 2011 range... no-- named led in flash... My samsung 5mp led is twice brighter than that in xperia ARC.. how about that...
Samsung develops lately much brighter LEds in home and have a special division for that.

Well, 12mpxl shot on sharp HD Bravia screen (342ppi) will always result great picture quality, but we care what is the quality of the 100% scale pictures.
I experience tha same with Xpeia Ray - on screen pictures look amazing, but when downloaded to PC they are not the same anymore. So we need to wait and see.

Really like both announced handsets and would look seriously at getting either (particularly as was given Android &" tablet for Xmas). They may well not carry same super specs as SGSIII seems likely to or the Fujitsu being pimped around and I guess an HTC this year but and it's a biigie I think both the new err I mean SONY devices are going to be sufficiently future proof if I sign up to one on a 2 year contract. They also (and obviously I haven't seen one IRL) look sturdier than the Arc and the Neo, I really liked the design of the Arc and feel in the hand (that real was great and very subtle real strong point over SGSII) but I was slightly concerned (sufficiently that I put off buying) that they wouldn't prove that durable and things like the chroming on the buttons would wear and they would scratch up easily, the new ones somehow give me more confidence (based I admit on no facts at all).

All in all things looking up a lot since I spent couple of years being very disappointed and critical of then SE. Seems to be Nokia's turn to carry on being the whipping boys.

Why does the Ion white paper show 4Hrs. 3G talk time?

The Xperia S has a 8.5 Hrs. 3G talk time.

I see that everybody is touched by the new Xperia S. I think that the dual-core processor and 12 megapixel camera doesn't give for customers effective additional features, despite of having high-end specs.

The new UI in my opinion stands slightly closer to the default Android UI. In fact it uses mainly the UI elements created by Sony Ericsson in 2011, only it is redesigned, just for Sony to show that they have a whole new and original UI -and everybody is impressed by it. For my taste 2011's Sony Ericsson phones' UI was much more colorful and much more friendly.
In spite of the Xperia S having themes too, in the basic applications it chages only the fonts' colors slighltly. And so in the settings or when you write a message you don't see any of the well-known Sony Ericsson skin, only the black background with pale coluored fonts. So it's bad to see that available themes doesn't let for users more customisation, and the basic applications' look is more boring than ever. The icons are ugly for my taste also.

However I didn't expect too much from Sony, but in my opinion is a bad decision to change the UI in this way to be more boring and darker just for distinguishing themselves from Sony Ericsson. Because the UI and user experience was their major strength.

The best mobile phone brand died with Sony Ericsson's death. Shame on you Sony for killing it! And, of course, for ruining the Xperia brand...

I couldn't find this info anywhere: it was confirmed that Xperia S uses micro SIM?

Not by themselves, but this pic leaked and it's quite convincing.
