Does anyone have preferences for Black or White?
I guess the covers for the back hide the black or white colour anyway..

I'm not sure other peoples opinions on colour really matter, unless you are trying to "fit in"... because you will know right away which you prefer when you see the two in real life
I absolutely never liked the look of white ipods and that probably put me off buying them, however when the white iphone 3g came out I wished I had waited, but it wasn't available immediately when the 3g was first available.
when the 3gs was announced and the black and white were to be available on release day.. I knew exactly what I was going to get... and I still prefer my white 3gs over my old black 3g
I've had the 2g, 3g and 3gs and never used covers on the iphones as I prefer them au-natural!
btw, I do recommend going to Apple to buy... and use their personal shopping experience too which costs no more but they're expecting you and it just feels like a better way to buy, especially in the huge shop on Regent Street

Hi masseur,
good point about knowing which I will prefer when I see! I am thinking white..
My thought on a cover was obviously to protect. I never have keys and coins in my 'phone' pocket, just the phone, so maybe I don't need a cover...
I guess a screen protector is important? Or maybe not if the screen is scratch proof...
There is a small store that is dedicated to Apple products in Hull.. maybe I will be in Regent Street next week!
thanks!

since I have carried slim-ish phones like w880, htc diamond, w890, iphone etc I stopped using cases, covers or similar
I've never used screen protectors, even on stylus touch screens, and its never been a problem and I've never had a bad report when I've sold my device on... but both these are what you're comfortable with I guess
during business hours, my iphone lives in my top shirt pocket and doesn't cause any sagging and so still looks smart, during casual hours, its in my left trouser pocket with nothing more than tissues, so either way its all safe and secure
if you're going to be in Regent Street Apple store just remember to make your appointment online before hand if you want the personal shopping experience
you can also pre-book classes in the Apple stores and I've already been to a Mac intro workshop and I'm booked into a mobile me workshop soon
unfortunately they're not yet running iphone developer courses

thanks masseur, for your helpful comments..
I will keep in mind the Regents Street store. Decision is to get tomorrow and enjoy,,,,, or to wait for a week or two for my visit.
I think if I keep my iPod Touch 32gb, I can just store different playlists on each device.... more reading to do...

I'll tell you that if you get the iphone you will not touch your touch!
on the other hand, if you are happy with the touch... keep it and just swap your phones as often as many of us do around here!
personally, I prefer it all in one

Hi masseur,
I think you are right, but don't want to sell the Touch at a big loss!
But there again, sitting in a drawer, means valueless !

exactly! when buying high end and as a fairly earlier adoptor you have to also be realistic and accept that when you come to sell you will lose more than most
the up side is that you then get the next best thing as an early adaptor and so the circle continues

Hi!!
Liking my iPhone very much!
Interesting, I installed some Japanese music and the keyboards and international settings seem to have set themselves up for Japanese
I do have a question! Can I set up a hotmail account? or do I need to check using the browser?
I will read back through this thread to see what favourite apps people are using, but if you feel like saving me some time, let me know what yours are!

yes, you can setup a hotmail account.
just add it as "other" and enter your hotmail credentials, the iphone will auto configure the incoming and outgoing server info, as well as set SSL on with port 995 for incoming advanced settings
