Even with decent optics, and the 'Bending lens technology' adopted from Sony's 'Cyber-shot' Cameras - the Optical Zoom still degrades quality...slightly - although, I strongly disagree that its an acceptable omission from the mighty C905.
Optical zoom degrades quality due to the narrower field of view and the lesser amount of light hitting the sensor. In the case of CMOS sensors that means less detail due to stronger noise reduction. In really bad cases it probably makes little difference whether the zoom is optical or digital...

In the C905 is technically capable of recording video in VGA, and Sony Ericsson doesn't put it in despite of this, I'm renaming the company to Sonobrainicson. |

I can only assume SE are saving decent video recording for a later video orientated phone. Shame they cant bring this res across the board but 1 step at a time I guess.
What res does the S0905 record in?

"The 5 Megapixel sensor allows the SO905iCS to record 640×480 MP4 videos at 30fps. The phone supports NTT DoCoMo’s FOMA 3G network. It measures 113mm x 50mm x 24mm and weighs only 145g."

Japan seems to be getting the stuff. So I guess we have to learn Japanese, and buy from their market.

No. It's about time SE to add this funktion in the new phones for all people in the world, not only in Japan. X1 is the first. So we are waiting more.

Anyone knows the size of the sensor in the w61s? Is it 1/2.5"? If so then it is only 15 times smaller than the EXMOR sensor used in Sony's DSLR-A700...
Note that the A700 is not Sony's latest dSLR. The three models they introduced this year, the A200, A300 and A350 all use CCD sensors. I wonder why... Can it because CCD is so expensive, complex and requires so much power?
