I tend to agree with that, port settings-computer configuration might have something to do with flashing issues. When I tried flashing using an AMD 1700+ pc(no brand name), flashing was incredibly slow (over 60 minutes). When using P4 1.7ghz Compaq pc, it took about 10 minutes. (same cable, same client, same server).

Hey guys...food for thought:
1) Not a server problem with dumping firmware
2) Maybe a problem with client software-however, when the thing hangs there for hours, windowsxp is not reporting the software as "hung" or stuck in anyway...the fact that you can click stop and start over clearly proves this.
3) A BIG maybe goes with the problem with the serial port settings and connection to phone (not actually the cable now). Here's my thought: Everybody who has "successfully" downloaded a fw from their phones, PLEASE, look at your serial port settings and report it here. Example: baud rate (9600, 14,400, etc.). And everyone who has been unsuccessful, please adjust your settings to the successful one and give that a shot.
As for me, I'm going to walk even further out on the limb and try a serial to usb adapter and give that a wack. Hopefully windowsxp will detect the connection and automatically set baud rates and such.
So it's off to Fry's electronics tomorrow to find the adapter cable. Wish me luck....and remember, I'm doing this for all of you guys...so please, if there is anything that you may see someone around you suffering with, give them a hand..without thinking what's in it for you, just this once. That is if you ever want to thank me, just thank me that way: just pass it on!!

I don't think it has to do with serial port settings... I have a T68 and a T68i.. I flashed both, one right after the other with the same files.. my T68 works but the T68i has the BT failure. So.. the settings were the same. I have a bad feeling that the Ericsson Client Program is messing up certain phones, and once its messed up it can't be fixed... this sux! |

t00h0t...just to clarify, what you are experiencing is not what I'm referring to...firstly, what I was referring to is the comm b/n the fone and the pc in the download (dump) process, nothing to do with what happens to your phone if you flash it with incompatible fw...funks has compiled a list of fone hardware and fw (orig) and successful/unsuccessful flashes...you may want to take a look at that. The bluetooth sys on the phone is embedded in the bluetooth chipset...once you dump some incompatible fw onto that chipset, I believe only emma2 or some real low level buzz on that chipset can reset it back to original status....where are you located? You can probably contact Adam at gsmphonesource.com and he can maybe help get your phone back in order with emma2...maybe.
Let me just remind everyone that we are treading on dangerous territory flashing our own phones...now warranties for sure.
I believe this thread has gotten way toooooo long and users are not tempted to read every single post to get to some proper conclusion...maybe time to start a new one?
Just a suggestion. |

Be careful on this, I noticed that EC only support Serial Port instead of USB or USB>Serial.

Hey guys. Thanks for a very informative thread! So I'm trying to update my T68 (using cingular in US) to T68i. Seems I have a R1B, 01 W46 (making it the oldest in this thread!). I bought a flash cable from gsmsquare.com and a logger from unlocking. Now when I try to use the EricsClient that unlockng sent me (it says Thailand at the top), I get either a "Server closed connection" or a "No Response from Server". Then I tried downloading the one on their Website and it gets stuck at "Connecting to Server..." Anyone know what is going on? I'm not sure if I am doing this right, but I connect my phone while it is off, and then click "Flash SW" and the when it says to "Power On Phone..." I push the "No" button for awhile, and then I get those above messages from EricsClient. Hopefully this is something simple and not another disaster for unlocking. Thanks in advance! And great work on this thread! =) |

kwan888...Stop what you are doing...I can see that you have read the thread but are still unclear on some issues....
Firstly, you may not even have that one credit from unlocking...seeing that the client actually tried to log in and got stuck, usually, you will lose your credit...but they are great guys over there and they will, hopefully, give you replacement credit to try again.
Now, what version are you trying to upgrade to? This is very important.
Secondly, when the client says to power on the phone, you only click on the NO button for a quick second...that's it. Do NOT hold it down for any period of time.
Thirdly, if you are using that THAI server, try doing the flash very late at night...the problem with servers is that during peak hours, there could be lots of congestion and traffic!
Fourthly, make VERY VERY certain that you have a solid, good internet connection. If you are using dialup, make sure you cancel call waiting (*70) or else if could just be bad luck and someone calls you while you are trying to access the remote server. Understand this, you only need the connection to be good while you are trying to access the server, but those 15-30 seconds are critical.
Well, that's all I can think of for now...contact unlocking and see if you can get a replacement credit, or else it could log on and say credit expired at 0.
(Btw, my "all caps" isn't not in any way, yelling...like some people think...I am simply stressing the importance of such meanings.)
Good Luck! |

Funks, are you around? Gone away for the holidays? You need to check your pm my friend...something very important in there. If you are in fact away, I will wait one more day for your response and then I will post the news myself.

av0135 - Thanks! That clears up alot of stuff. As for the version I am upgrading to, I am upgrading it to the R5D007 that is found here: http://www.sevenfire.net/T68.html
As for everything else, I will try the Thai Server later at night. Also, how will I know if my log has been used up or not? Will EricsClient notify me? Thanks again! |

Guys, thanks to AV0135, we now have a firmware dump for a T68m (R1B hardware) updated through EMMA2 to R5D007 firmware.. People who have the standby issue should try to flash using this firmware instead.
Thanks Guys

Funks, you're welcome for the mention, but it is actually av0135...and notwithstanding the constant assistance of virtualdynamix and gsmphonesource!
Anyways, there are thre files, all zipped. One is the 10mb language file, one flash one credit..and the others are the avr and arm files..two flashes two credits (never got it to only use one credit to do both files before...and yes, I know how to do it..it just never worked). I am saying this to warn future flashers so that they don't bombard their credit sources with why's and pay me backs and stuff! I've went thru it all already, managed to piss off the guys at logosunlimited to where they don't even return my emails anymore. Anyways...another topic.
So, no bluetooth probs and no standby probs whatsoever on this flash. Just make sure of the following (and I use caps to symbolize importance, not yelling): MAKE SURE YOU DO A MASTER RESET ON YOUR PHONES (m or i mods) BEFORE FLASHING. BE CERTAIN YOU ARE ON A FRESH FULL CHARGE. BE CERTAIN YOU ARE ON A 500mhz or SLOWER PC, TESTS HAVE CONCLUDED THAT ECLIENT DOES NOT LIKE FASTER CPUS..TRUST ME, OVER 10 CREDITS HAVE BEEN BURNED FIGURING THIS OUT...
That's all guys, just give that a shot! Good luck. Thanks funks for posting this even in your ill state right now...check your pm! |
