I just finally looked at the Muhammed Cartoons... the people that drew those things should be in mental institutions. And to think some idiot Editor allowed it to be printed. And reprinted!
They were not even funny. So the Danes read such dry stuff over dinner and laugh? I am a Christian, and I am pissed off... how much more Muslims.
In Nigeria, we will say "Yeye people" (Stupid people)

@All: Just noticed that our thread finally got into the Top20 most popular threads by replies. Lets keep it flowing.
@coola, always nice having you pop in.
What's dangerous about this whole thing is how a legitimate protest action has been hijacked by extremist who blame anyone from Zionists to Dubya for cartoons drawn by Danish artists.
We've been numbed by the daily deaths in Iraq so, extremists have jumped onto cartoon bandwagon even though they've been around since Sept 2005.

What's really saddening is that there are still those who persist in inflaming current emotions by going out of their way to belittle Islam. This can only end badly, i'm afraid.

I don't think my views are narrow-minded...As a journalist I don't like the idea of small minority imposing on me what I should and should not write...mutual respect goes both ways. Anyway, I'll stop being politically incorrect and continue my thoughts on my blog or in the dedicated thread.

Lost all interest when we got knocked out...the whole drama with Mido has piqued my interest again but I don't know whether I'll watch the final...got the feeling Ivory Coast might just pull a Greece on Egypt...Run at them, attack, score and defend for the rest of the match.
Good luck to both teams.

I also lost interest in watching matches. But I saw that other match.
Where all players scored penality until on the second round.
Cote De Vore Vs some team.
I'm look forward to the final though.
Have a great weekend fellows. |

Today is my birthday, unlike last year I won't be throwing a massive party. I celebrated this morning by taking a 20-minute run on the treadmill and lifting some weights...will probably go out for a drink later tonight.

@da wanqsta: I'm too tired to go anywhere this evening, besides I'm working tommorow. We're not big on presents for birthdays but would've liked a black W900i if given the option.

We finally found a property that we really dig and within our price range,in London.
Initially we were thinking of buying in neighbouring county Essex, but 2 things have prompted us to buy in the expensive Queen's capital:
1. The Olympics in 2012 is gonna have some impact on house prices in east London. Not yet,but from about 2 years from now,London's real estate prices are more than likely going to climb that much quicker than the already-healthy rate at the moment.
The property we like is in Upton Park, home of West Ham Utd and right next to Stratford, which is to be the hub of the Olympics. We might thus sell a year or so before the Olympics, then hopefully buy a really nice place in some coastal village and invest the rest.
2. As the better half and I are doing quite well in our current work places, it would make sense from a professional development point of view to stay in our current local jobs for a few more years at least, although I'll be only too happy to move further away from this busy rat-race.
Right then,it's off to the solicitors and mortgage advisors tomorrow...the start of savings being seriously depleted, but of course I'm focussing on long-term prospects. |

@Amawanqa Well done buddy :-) Last friday afternoon the term 'Africa Time' got a new meaning for me when together with my buddy (Cst. Tandiwe Yedwa) gave a presentation (about 1hour) to our local policing community forum (crime related). Because, the by now usual, late arrivals of the 'elite' local community representatives we started about 10 minutes late. Little I new - during the weekend I heard from a few members of the public, the presentation was racist ! I thought well I guess one can see it that way (most of the cases mentioned/presented/discussed where either blacks stealing from whites or assaulting each other.Only one was about a drunk white youth insulting a black, self employed car-parking 'guard' 2'o clock in the morning). I felt sad about it all. I was merely presenting what happened. Then Cst Yedwa come and said - no Inspector you've got it a bit 'wrong' there. The non white community is complaining because the presentation was hold for only a white audience. - Huh -
