I've noticed that every time I press the clock in flip open mode the phone continuously vibrates and the only way to stop it is to turn it off. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

I've had the same problem but it dissapeared.. 2 times it happend and I was starting to get worried. But then as suddenly as it arrived it dissapeared. This was after I had done a FW-upgrade. Scary!

@antz88c

You don't seem to be able to change the homepage!! This is a huge miss from SE or Opera... I hope they fix it in futer FW.

The bookmark thats on top is the "mighty homepage" that can not be changed! (My Vodafone/telenor-settings did actually change this by somehow put it's portal at the top... The portal thats so far doesn't work with p990!)

Does anyone know if the popular game under the name "Jawbreaker" that comes pre-installed on all pda-phones made by O2 or Xda exists (free of course) for the P990i?
It's really an addictive game that I like using a lot when waiting before meetings etc
Thanks in advance

To be honest, ive lost interest in the P990i. Im a great fan of the P series, i tried @ first to talk myself that i had no use for it. After a couple months i was ready to buy it....Until i read this thread. Shame really that a 650 euro gadget is so buggy. I know "new" products come @ a price and have faulty software but the fact that this RAM issue wasnt adressed after SE having had over a year betweeen announcement and realease i find unacceptable. I gues ill wait for the p999i to be released, mark my words that will happen, just as it did with p900 to p910.

I got the magic stick!

if you go to current page -> page info while on the start page, you will notice it points to the z: drive. saving the page you want to that file will make it appear as the start page. the problem is that the built in file manager only sees c: and d:.

@masseur

Thanx masseur for your game anf for your kin interest in my time consuming activities! Now my boss will be able to fire me on good cause...I get too addictive with those things!
p.s. Do you know a way I could make the calendar reminder ring only once and not keep ringing until I hit "done". I know it's supposed to draw the users attention to the reminder but this is very annoying in case you are nowhere near the phone or the phone is unreachable (while driving or while taking a bath etc)!

Thanx in advance masseur (or anyone else who knows the answer to that)

I've got two questions about the phone:

1. Has anyone been able to get an animation (gif) to work as the wallpaper in the P990? My P910 could do it, so I would imagine the P990 can too, but they don't seem to...

2. How can you watch a streaming video in the web browser? Most sites that have streaming media require WMP or RealPlayer; so is there any sort of way to get it to play?

By the way, I had my first crash today. I got a KERN etc. error in the Messaging application. Oh well -- I'm still as happy as can be !

I downloaded the Flurry.gif from the Mac OSX customization thread and added that to my phone as the screensaver. Seems to be working last time I checked.

I wonder if it's possible to make the part of memory stick as a virtual ram or the like to address the shortage of ram?

No, the memory of the MS is too slow and couldn't survive all the read/writes. Exaplained by Michal Jerz at My Symbian here: UIQ3 & RAM

I have only got the streaming to work via 3G/GPRS. When I run via WiFi it says "buffering" and then just nothing happens.
Irritating!!!
The phone can handle real-media... but not windows-media. And seem like it can't handle any streaming while on WiFi!! GAH!

on the ram issue it seems that the browser opera is the only app that hogs the memory as it say here http://my-symbian.com/forum/v[....]tdays=0&postorder=asc&start=60 by michal. You can run up to maybe 15 applications simultaneously. The major reason for ram shortage is that some apps aren't optimize for symbian os.
