@bradboy: I've still got hope even though things are looking gloomy out there.

@All: A South African production company are the first to have shot a movie entirely on a cellphone. They used several W900s to shot SMS Sugarman. According to the producer, they used the W900i because it shot at 30fps and also because it was the best available from several handsets that were tested...I think that was a dig at the gargantuan N90.

Ahhhh wanqa...you had to have the 5000th post. Congrats guys (and girls) on reaching yet another milestone in a year and two months.

Talking of the W900i...I bet the phone will be popular here in about five months, should be launched locally late this month. In an earlier post I said that it had passed Vodacom's network tests...I guess right now the phones is probably being shipped here...loaded with the required software and distributed around SA.

I've only seen one guy, at the Waterfront, using an N70....nice phone, just not for me.

@bradboy: I can't be too positive with all the negativity around us. I read a Capetonian's blog this morning, the guy was all depressed with low self esteem| wish I could give him some positive energy.

Seems like all the Gooners are Sol searching after the recent slump while Muslims the world over are upset over cartoons.

LOL brixsta,
'Sol' searching indeed.
Apparently his solicitor said that he'll be back at the training camp on Monday. All sorts were said to have affected his poor run, from his brother being in jail, his strained relationship with his famed interior designing chick, etc etc.
Oh, and a Sol-less Arsenal beat Birmingham with relative ease today: 2-0.

WRT those controversial cartoons, the fact that the UK press was far more 'sensitive' by not publishing them, compared to the very typically obstinate Frogs, Danish etc had been noted amongst the Muslim communities here, hence them venting their anger outside the various offending countries' embassies in London...and not at all outside 10 Downing Street.

Usually I'm left-of-centre when it comes to politics but reaction to the cartoons has been silly considering that more hateful things are said about Christians and Jews each day. It's been so scary that at times I even started to agree with Dubya on his Middle Eastern objectives.

Last night I watched The Life of Brian (just for some perspective) and I can't recall Christians calling for the heads of the Monthy Python crew when the movie came was released even though it's pretty blasphemous.

Today the Johannesburg High Court granted a order that the cartoons couldn't be published in the Sunday Times.

Life of Brian...I remember seeing that in Std 8.
I hear and understand what you're saying brix.
Crusade-times aside, would it be fair to say that perhaps Christendom has not been as militant in its reactions to such taboo due to an underlying Westernised, more 'freedom of speech and expression' culture, whereas say most paragons of the other religion in question have roots in a far more insular and very different cultural ethos, which manifests itself in such incidents?
I know this is a very general statement, but some obvious food for thought.

@da wanqsta: As an atheist I face ridicule each day, I never killed someone over it, never burnt down a church and never felt that I've been dishonoured.

And then there are those who feel that it is necessary and justifiable to further their cause by strapping themselves with explosives and indiscriminately take whatever lives with them, be they children, pensioners, expectant mothers, whoever.

Totally off-topic, I hope the Proteas produce a better performance against the Aussies later today...

So true, just look at those idiots centuries ago, de Torquemada and the Inquisitors. Religion, from a personal point of view, helps me to balance my life, not only because i was raised in a Christian home, but because of my own experiences with God. The last thing i'd do, however, is force my viewpoint down anybody's throat. Don't know if you guys ever saw a Rowan Atkinson skit some years back, where he played the role of Satan. He appeared on stage in a flowing cape, resplendent in horns and a tail. He welcomes everybody to hell, and proceeds to point out directions- lawyers to the right, tax people to the left, Muslims, Jews and Christians to the back, because it appeared that the Mormons were right! Hilarious as it was, i bet he'd be roasted :-) if he did something similar now. Maybe Marx had a point with the opium angle...
