Really??  , i thought that would have been at least encrypted or in some sort of secure format so as to not be read by others....

Edit: seems your right, just tried again and at the top of the page it says the connection is not secure between the phone and the site...not good...not good at all.

This aint good..
-I cant connect to my internet bank (https)
-The wlan antenna dont have veary good range.
-The battery is a nightmare
-Agilemessenger dosent works after FW updates. But they wil fix it but in future FW upgrades what happens...
-Im+ works good but if you have alot of conntacts over 20 it often hangs (allways for me) the program.
-Wayfinder trial dosent works any good and often hangs so I will not buy that application. Ii did the same on my p900, it seems that nothing much have happend in that program during this years.
-I often need to restart the phone fore better performance
-You have to convert all your videos if you want to see them on the phone. And this encodings tool se take good mony for.
-The power up time is terrible. Ok i can live with it if you dont have to restart your phone so often but this phone fore me I must restart it every day
And you cant see the signal strenght on your "ADDED" wlans that are hidded SSID.
I dont like that you have to go to "task manager" for closing almost all programs
Im still waiting for a skype version for symbian phones....
p990 use symbian 9.1 and on begining next year they will release 9.3 I hope its possible to make upgrade. But i doubt it.
So have it been worth buying this phone fore me as it is now?

A new phone, a new operating system. Early adopters on devices like that are beta testers and there is always the possibilities of ugly happenings.

@Residentevil: please stop with that. Ares got the phone AFTER me, would i be a beta tester then? If the real beta testers weren't sitting drinking coffee with their phones OFF, we wouldn't be having this discussion. |

Hell i love being a beta tester of some sort, wish SE would pay me though  . As i said previously its the price you pay for the latest tech, things are going to be perfect, were the p800/900/910 perfect out of the box?? NOPE they werent but SE listened to us and brought out firmware updates that solved if not all the bugs those phones had.
Anyways other than the browser not being able to access https pages or secure pages the only other thing thats slightly annoying me is the shortcut screen in FC mode. Now it would be ever so helpful if i could actually put a shortcut to the divert calls there but can i?? NOPE...only way i can do it is by opening the flip and adding it into the shortcut screen there. Which doesnt really make any sense to me as i much rather prefer the divert calls shortcut to be on my shortcut screen in FC mode.
Seems like SE didnt really think that part out or didnt really incorporate it into the menu system. I just find it a tad annoying that i have to open the flip...go into phone setting then call setting then finally get to the divert calls option and access it through there. Now it would be ever so helpful if they could map a button where you just press it and it diverts all calls to voicemail but sadly that cant be done.
Other than that i love this phone despite all its bugs and niggles, i find it an absolute joy to use to be honest.
Please SE if your listening out there, try to sort the shortcut menu out in the next firmware update.... |

can you check with your network provider that your GPRS/3G account does include blocks. T-mobile sets bars for certain types of protocol such as streaming (UK).

The video is a small part off all the problem this phone have. I´ve expected much more stable device after all delays that have occurred.
The answer off your question about if's difficult to convert video usin super. Would be, probably not. I have searched through sony ericsson homepage but couldn't find it there. Maybe you could be kind and tell me where to find it.
The thing with video is that is takes way to long time to load up an converted episode of your favorite serie.
And if you are a happy beta tester Im not a convince customer right now. I wounder if they didn't listen on the beta tester or if the beta tester didn't test the device propably. Ok there will come out FW that probably will fix this small issues, but after the first update it still aint stable.
I like the phone if it works like it should, then its the perfect phone for me. But sadly if Im telling the true right now, it do not reach my expectation.
And ppl thats writing after some day of testing the unit and say that its the best device you have tryed out must be humbug. My advice is try it more and dont just make voice calls and play with some *.xls file. Im impartial and telling you with my own experience.

please note that many users in Sweden and the UK have been posting issues/problems with the P990 for the last 2 weeks so please read these posts - you may NOT wish to buy this device given that the problems that have documented on many forums now. You may wish to wait until the firmware fixes are available.

I can access secure websites with the browser just fine. I logged into two different of my bank accounts and could transfer funds and everything. The secure icon appeared by the tab, and I could view the certificate, etc. |

Hello, can anyone say the screen on the p990i is of the same quality as the sony k800i. i saw the screen on k800i today and its out of this world! (compared to my old p900i !)

ares I don't know if you have understand me right. Maybe I havent point it out clearly or maybe you dont try to read it right.
I haven't said thats there are any problems with encoding videos, and yes I have read in Johnex topic and thread. The problem for me was to find this program "super" and I still dont have it. With just a name like super its kind of hard to google. I remember I asked you if you could give me an url so I could donwload this freeware in my last post but you were for some reason ignored that. If a phone like this is going to sell as a multimedia phone an application like this (encoding tool) should come in the box(CD) at least a trial. It shall be easy to use and handle for the ordinary user. This is just a part of the problem. The issue is
-slow startup for a video...
Thats the big issue, not the transfear time or encoding time but startup time, from clicking the file in the list and get it playing. Hope you understand now what Im meant before you assume I dont search and learn. |
