Would there be an audio chip for this? Anything else that's new?
Anyway, what DAC do Xperias use?

unfortunately, sony prices only become competitively low months after the initial product availability, when they realize they are unable to sell them with the initial prices they set (in the non-asian market).
I think you misinterpret this pricing strategy.
They drop prices after a few months, yes, but after they have milked fanboys and early adopters. They know that the initial price is inflated but they know I will buy it anyway.
I think changing this strategy is a risk. Their devices don't conjure enough media attention (yet) to stand their own at competitive release prices. It also devalues the brand perception a little.
What they should do is official release 1 month later at a competitive price, but in that one month period offer a limited number of pre-release handsets for a 20% surcharge. Pre-release handsets come with bragging rights for an 'unreleased' phone and complementary bugs in the FW that are fixed with 'release firmware' on the official release date. eg. 'limited number' pre-release the phone for £600 through September with 'beta firmware', then official release in October with all the bugs fixed at £500.
It's basically what they do but the naming of the the first month of short stock and buggy FW has no jazz in the name.

Honestly the strategy SONY need is only to re release the year old flagship again with the new but in a different way
Forexample
If SONY will continue its strategy of 1 compact odd number flagship per year and two normal size flagships then the strategy will be as follows
Z(x+1) compact re release with the Z(x+3) compact bit with half it's price
and after six months
Z(x+2) re release with Z(x+4) but with half it's price |

So, in the foreground, we have a watch, a lens/camera, a tablet, a phone and something underwraps?
In the background there is two other phones and another cover, but I'm not sure they mean too much or they'd be in the foreground.
If the scale is at all indicative (between devices - there isn't a tablet the size of a skyscraper) then the underwraps device is small.. very small.
If it's just a bluetooth headset then why is it so secretive to put under a cover? They seem to release a new headset every month.
Sony are certainly trying to get attention for this announcement, I hope they don't fall on their face in front of a lot of people with a disappointing set of products.
If Z3 has something cool about it or if there is an oversized Ultra version, I may just have found my Christmas present to myself...

I am sure the individual boxes represent something but it would be hard to say what is exactly in each one.
The flat one on the left could be the z3 tab compact, the tube thingy in the foreground could be the new ILCE-QX1 lens/sensor camera thingy for smartphones. As for the rest, anyone's guess but this is what should debut..
Z3
Z3c
Z3 tab compact
ILCE-QX camera
Smartwatch 3 and this new smartband talk
3 walkmans
new bluetooth/NC headphones
new wireless speakers supposedly
supposed new low E3, guess it is just a re-design of the current E1?
I am sure there will be more devices, but so personally looking forwards to the new walkmans and tablet. |

I have a different view on this.
Why milk on fanboys?
The goal should be to attract new buyers.
You have to realize that fanboys will eventually lose their enthusiasm once they realize they're paying more when they can get other comparable devices for less.
When your sales are declining and you get competition from cheap Chinese products, that strategy does not make sense.

I never said their strategy made sense!
But as a fanboy, I know I should have lost interest and bought a Galaxy Note and an iPad mini, but I simply cannot. Any other other true fanboy in here would tell you the same thing.
It's me they're milking and they're pretty good at it.

@RickyD & xperia junkie
the second teaser posted above was from SONY Middle Easy..not Sony Mobile,so i guess that pic includes products other than phones.
I hope Z3 does have improvements in the Processor,Display ,Audio quality & Loudness,Camera and 1 or 2 new added features like Wireless charging etc.Else it will be slightly embarrassing. Its a decent alternative strategy to have a refreshed flagship every 6 months considering how competitive the market is with new tech & features..but that means the refresh also has to bring these updated tech & features...if not :-\

@Ranjith I do think the Z3 will come with all of those improvements as that is just the natural progression of a smartphone. In terms of a better processor we know the Z3 is using the ac version of the SD801 which for myself would be absolutely fine since the 805 may have 1 or 2 issues with battery efficiency. My Z1 which is almost a year old now is still working like a treat with the SD800 so definitely no worries about performance just those that care about stupid benchmarks. The addition of wireless charging would be more than welcome as I think only Nokia have this as standard in a flagship without the need of a separate case. Sony really have tightened up on leaks this year so we don't have any idea what the phones USP will be but there's only 48 hours till we find out and I for one can't wait.
