"Hermoine" probably is a hoax, but what about "hermione" which is what's being discussed here? |

Apart from the fact that SE have released a new P series at this time of the year, every year since the p800, and that various ources say one is on it's way... no... there is no reason to think one is coming out....
Oh wait, of course there is!
Well, I've just got a k608i to keep me going till the p950/p1000 is out.
Can't wait!

The stuff at http://hermione.cogia.net/ looks pretty convincing to me - of course some of it is openly photoshopped, but that doesn't mean the sources aren't genuine. The spec is also exactly what we should be expecting from the next generation of the P series - 3G, better camera, better UIQ, wifi, in a slightly smaller but not dramatically different form factor. Perfect - I'm looking forward to the upgrade (this one should definitely be worth changing my P800 for).

There is simply NO WAY that a hoax can be perpetuated for this amount of time.
This rumour has been around for bloody ages!
And now we have the pics to prove it!
The whole world is waiting upon the next smartphone from Sony Ericsson - so much so that they would have to create one just on the strength of the rumours!!!
Also, I wouldn't judge this phone just on a couple of pictures. Get hold of one first and have a play around and then judge.

i notice that the photo is down, I'm assuming it's been removed.
To the mods, if it's been removed it would be appreciated if I could at least receive a pm.
I wouldn't want to repost it not knowing that it was intentionally removed.

the pics don't look very SE to me, more like something motorola or samsung would make. the design just doesn't go in line with what SE is used to producing. what an ugly phone, wouldn't buy that one. |

Maybe the gold is actually chrome reflecting a gold like colour.

To me it does look like a true SE design. The top is influenced by the V800 design, and the flip comes back to the P900 flip, which I prefer over the P910.
It looks like an early mechanical prototype, and it still does not fit. The flip would be nearly definitive, but the housing is not. On the first hi-res picture on hermione.cogia.net, note that the flip is seriously leaning towards the right. This means that the flip mechanism is not perfect yet and does not fit properly.
The rubber band around it seems to be needed to keep the prototype pieces together. Take the rubber band out, and it would fall to pieces. All normal in an early mechanical prototype.
Personally I've never used the qwerty keypad on P910 and doubt I'ever use this one, for me handwriting is perfect. But sure they have requests for it, and it does not hurt screen size too much.
To me it looks like a killer. Quite smaller than P910, screen area is a bit bigger (shorter but wider, which is what I missed for reading docs), all functions we have requested for long time...
So, congratulations, nice product!
I'm getting one for sure. |

new info on http://hermione.cogia.net/
"Colour (probable):
Silver on the flip and edges (top and bottom).
Darl [dark?] grey in the main body and behind the keyboard.
(On the spy pictures you can see it's gold. Gold, it seems, means it's a prototype in the final stage of development)"
it'll only be available to the market in feb '06 (five and a half months. uggh)
the back will look like the w800.
even if they are only rumours, at least they're good rumours.
