well that should be the answer. I think R2AN001 is operator specific version for O2 UK and DE. only some bug fixes. I am no aware of any new versions for other ones. |

@vee, i tought too that this was most likely to be operator specific firware. I had a question though, does operator specific firmware limit the functionality offered by the original manufacturer fw. OR does it possibly improve it?? I would think it is likely to restrict some aspects

well it loads probably operator specific changes in firmware. as far as I know O2 customized only few parts of firmware. |

O2's changes to the firmware are cosmetic, just predefined pictures and sounds but they don't take up much space. The only thing not in there is the My Friends option. I think O2 branding is the best branding to have, with Vodafone being the worst (obviously). |

I don't have any o2 branding on the phone any more and I didn't think o2 allowed firmware updates via the Sony update service? |

Added R2AN001 to the first post.
If you are using this firmware than any additional information (e.g. changes) that you could find out about this release would be great!
@EFF
I assume you no longer have an O2 icon in the top left corner of the main menu screen?
Additionally, if you own an O2 branded phone and have a DSS20/25 I would be most appreciative if you could try SEUS to see whether your phone is upgraded to R2AN001.
Actually, if you have a DSS an an unbraded phone it would be worth trying SEUS to see if you also get the new release! I'd do it myself, but don't have access to a DSS at the moment.

I no longer have the o2 icon just the green arrow now and non of the start-up or shut down o2 screens either.
If I run the SEUS now it says that I have the latest version.
I not familiar with the improvements over the different firmware upgrades, the only reason I wanted to update was due to the menu speed being much worse than my previous K700 and it is now much faster.

I have an O2 branded phone (german). With the release of R2AN001 specifically for O2 phones, does this mean that I can upgrade my phone without having to unbrand it? From what I have read, this firmware has all the benefits of R2AE003 but for O2 phones, is this correct? |

I have a O2 branded contract k700i phone and I have successfully updated the firmware online with SEUS. I still have the O2 icon in the top left menu and the start up shutdown screens are still there. It's faster though and the phonebook allows multi character searches now. Haven't got a my friends option and still get the occasional crash.
Does anyone know of any other advantages?
cheers

The first message in the thread states that R2AN001 was released on SEUS, but then states that the most recent SEUS version is R2AE033. Is that an oversight, or am I reading it wrong?
I've got RSAE033 on an unbranded US K700i (direct from SE) - even if R2AN001 is an O2-specific update, would I get that loaded via SEUS? I'm interested to see if any updates fix the problem I've been having with my Tungsten T3's GPRS connectivity... |

@pjh2315
R2AN is O2 specific, so an unbranded phone or a phone from another operator will receive R2AE when visiting SEUS.
Thanks for informing me of the oversight on the first post - I have corrected it. |
