hello there,

Kuala Lumpur Travel Guide - Top 10 things to do :-

Batu Caves
These are probably one of the better known attractions in the area. Only 13 km north of the capital these towering limestone formations were little known till about 100 years ago. Now though, especially in February, thousands of Hindus pay homage to the shrine now ensconced in the major cave.

Butterfly Park
Houses some 6,000 butterflies of over 120 species. The park is an imitation of the butterfly's natural habitat. More than 15,000 plants from 100 species have been used to recreate a Malaysian rainforest atmosphere. There is a nursery and breeding area for the butterflies. Visiting hours: 9am - 5 pm (Weekdays) Admission fees: RM4 (Adult), RM2 (Child)

Craft Museum (Craft Cultural Complex, Jalan Conlay)
The attraction of this museum are the dioramas, detailed scenes showing the traditional process of making pottery by hand, intricate wood carving, silver-smithing, weaving songket cloth or pandanas leaves, stamping batik patterns on cloth and boat making. In the Craft Cultural Complex, you can buy the traditional handicrafts and they are often cheaper here than elsewhere in the country.

Horse Riding
This is one sport that won't break your bank account as Malaysia is one of the cheapest places in the world to learn to ride. Not only that, it is a really great way to see the surrounding fauna and flora without disturbing too much. It is not recommended that children under 7 years of age learn to ride properly but there is no harm in those younger than that from sitting on a horse or pony and being led around. There are quite a number of riding schools in the area as follows: Selangor Turf Club and Equestrian Centre, Templer Park, Km 21, Jln Rawang 48000 , Tamman Equine Park Jln Akademi Putra, the Selangor Polo and Riding Club Jln Sungei Besi, 57100, and the Bukit Kiara Equestrian Centre Jln Bukit Kiara, 77000 are said to be the better establishments for the pursuit of anything 'horsey'.

Deer Park
Located in the undulating slopes and the sprawling valley of the Lake Gardens. Close to the bubbling stream at the edge of the valley are several mouse-deer, the world's smallest hoofed animal and a popular figure in local folklore due to its legendary wit. Open: 9am-5pm (Daily) Admission fees: RM 1

Mountain Climbing
Get hold of the Wildlife And National Parks Department. For climbers interested in climbing all over Malaysia, they have extensive info on mountain climbing.

National Art Gallery
Located at Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin (opposite The Kuala Lumpur Railway Station), the National Art Gallery is housed in a 1932 building which is conserved under the National Heritage Trust. A permanent collection of works by local and foreign artists are displayed. Open: 10am-6pm (Daily) Closed on Friday 12.45pm-2.45pm Admission: Free

Natural Rubber Museum
Located at the Rubber Research Institute's Experimental Station in Sungai Buloh, the Rubber Research Museum traces the history and development of the rubber industry in Malaysia. Visitors get to see what a rubber estate looks like and how it functions.

Petaling Street
Kuala Lumpur's original Chinatown, where shopping is a whole new experience. The unmistakable Oriental atmosphere is evident particularly at night when petty traders spread out their wares along the street. It's the ideal place to test your bargaining skills. A must for any tourist.

Enjoy!
