Found some shots of the 'Opera Brown', but the photo lighting is very poor in my opinion and you can't make out the brown keyboard at all!

I can also confirm that the LED on the side of the phone s only used when the battery is really really flat, and in case of EROM problems and the like, shame.
@Miss UK
I have the phone, and have recorded a video review, but it thought it was too long (10mins!) i'll try to make a shorter one, when i stop ummming all the time

Ok heres my review, albeit without pictures (no digicam, if only the w980 could photo itself):
The phone itself looks fantastic. Although as you may have noticed from the pictures it may attract some finger prints, as of yet it does not seem as bad as other similarly styled devices (i'm looking at you Mr. PSP). The display on the front is obviously of a lesser quality than the inside screen, but it is more than capable of allowing you to see any texts/calls recieved, as well as signal strength, the time and battery life. This screen is also where the touch buttons on the front of the phone really come into their own. Of course you can still use the volume control on the side for easily skipping through songs, but on a clamshell design it is less than convenient to have to open the phone everytime you want to change to a different album/playlist. The buttons on the front allow you to control all aspects of the music player, apart from creating new playlists and track options, which not only looks incredibly swave, but also makes it much easier to use the device as a music player. The thing that astounded me most is that i could go through every single track i had on the phone (over 4gb), on the outside screen, without any kind of lag or hitch whatsoever!
The inside screen is of a similar quality to the w910i, although in my opinion the brightness and clarity of the screen is definitely an improvement on the w910i.
The buttons on the phone also work much better than the w910i or most other Walkman phones i have used over the last couple of years, they are big and well spaced apart, and I find it much, much easier to type out text messages with them.
As for the new Walkman software, it goes without saying that although it is no huge leap over the previous version it does add some extra functionality combined with new looks, such as games now being listed on the 'media bar'. This phone, despite the 8gb memory, also seems to run the software much faster when trying to select tracks from a large list etc, my w910i would often start to slow down and lag at the first sign of having to list lots of song titles at once. The sound quality is also much better than the w910i, although i do not know whether this is down to the new headphones supplied or the w980 itself. However it is definitely comparable to a stand alone MP3 player, and is a big improvement over previous sound quality.
The camera causes no great shakes, it is a standard 3.2mp camera with standard options, the lack of auto-focus and a flash was definitely a minus point for me, but for taking pictures during the day it definitely does suffice.
Finally, the software on the phone is again standard a standard SE affair, with the normal menu including all the relevant pictures to take you to the different areas of the phone. One thing i did like was the flash themes that were included, they were certainly better than the w910i ones.
Sorry for the slapdash nature of the review, i have to go out soon, so i thought i would get something up quickly. If you have any other questions or would like me to go into any more detail about a certain feature, feel free to ask.

Nice one well I look forward to these reviews from both of you,
Ps, can you also include decent pics in those TA!
it's a nicephone btw the advert for it has the wow factor tbh,
if I was stuck with a N95-2 i'd have this cos it simply is a stunning looking phone
i'd seriousley be happy if it had Wi-Fi though it spoils it not having that

@ DtSje:
Nice review mate.
Did anyone find any bugs? I have got one, i.e. when playing music (flip open) it gets to landscape mode and never comes back to normal. You have to turn the Wplayer off in order to do it.
Are there any updates available? I am on O2 checked SEUS last night but no updates as yet.

You mean pics of W980 or pics taken by W980? You can find some pics here

Does this phone support on-the-fly play list creation? If not is there a way to add that to the phone via software or something? |

Well, yes, you can create custom playlists on the phone. You can also use SensMe.

In fact all walkman phones have good playlist sorting. That is the option that separated walkman phone from cybershot for e.g.

sandy4464, where did you hear the information regarding the LED on the side?
I rang Sony Ericsson UK today and the guy said the LED should definately be lit when a call or message is received. Mine doesn't light up at all. This is rather annoying as you can't tell if a call or message has been received! |

Maybe the firmware has to do something with it. Are you running the latest one?
