Yes.. I had downloaded the settings from vodafone but I hadn't chosed the right internet-account in the MMS-settings.

But if you can't recive a sms I don't think this is the solution. But maby it was a MMS you couldn't recive?

Yes.. if you have installed PC Suite you can do a backup. I suggest you deselect third party software in the backup since that has made some peoples backup to crash. Better to reinstall any software you have.

But all setting and the phonebook and more to it will be saved.

plz try to zoom to something a bit far and see what are the results

OK. Got my phone exchanged for another P990i and it still has the autofocus zoom bug. That makes 4 confirmed P990i that I personally have tested.

It's also been claimed that many others here locally have also been seing their service providers with the same problem. Maybe some getting their phones replaced for other models, but most hadcore SE users (like myself) - still keeping the faith ...

Apparently SE HQ is denying there is any issue, but local SE is apparently 'aware' of this and believe it 'might' be a firmware issue. Still doesn't explain in that case why some with the same firmware as ours don't have this problem. Could it be a case of a fw being loaded differently in phones from a different factory run and geographical area? Dunno.

So now I have a new P990i (R5 fw). Not going to upgrade to R7 as that apparently has Wifi problems. So will have to wait for R8 maybe. Hope that solves the autofocus zoom problem...

C'mon SE!!!

hopefully its just a fm issue coz i really like the p990
when i bought the p990 the FM was R2A everything was working like a charm except for the web browser
when i updated my phone to R3B i found it a bit slower than R2A but with better memory management i hope they can fix the problems coz the P990 is a really great device and i would feel sorry if they ditched it with out fixing for a successor

With the R7 firmware cannot connect with 3com Wifi ruters. With zyxel and others works fine.
With R5 I culd connect with all of them.

Sometimes it takes more then 3 tries just to add one voice command to a contact's number in the address book, and this is with almost no background noise.

@GoR2002

I use a 3Com wireless router and I've not had any problems with the latest firmware. In fact today I was also using wifi at Starbuks (UK) with T-mobile hotspots

If you are receiving SMS from others and if you are only having problems with SMS messages from your son there can be 2 causes I think.

1) Your son's phone has been infected by those Bluetooth viruses maybe.

2) I have a Nokia MMS camera, I'm having problems when I receive MMS messages all the time, the pictures are fine but the texts are illegible by SE P910 and P990. However other Nokia or Siemens phones can see the text correctly, so it maybe a incompability between your son's phone and your P990 maybe ???????

Take out your son's SIM card out of his phone and stick it into another phone to see if the same thing happens.

Hi guys, I however still can't get the update. The update service keep trying detecting my phone and then fails. I have to start all over again. My pc recognised my phone and tell me that the hardware works properly. Any idea what else I can try?. I've tried on my laptop too, but still no positive response.

thank you

here it is worse, still on firmware R4 and the damn update service keeps saying I have the latest version. Unbranded phone is what I have.

What CDA versions are actually update-able?

phone: CXC162037 R4B001
BT : CXC162058 R4F01
Org : CXC162036 R2A04
CDA : CDA162008/55 R1A03

(from Luxembourg)

I am struggling with tons of bugs which makes the phone virtually unusable, but since the SE update refuses to reflash the phone, I am seriously considering returning it, but this is such a PITA to do, so what are my other options??
