Yeah, I got mine working with IMAP today. Haven't tried SyncML yet. I used a 15 day trial account from http://www.4smartphone.net. I set my outlook at work to forward all e-mails to the 4smartphone account and it works out pretty good.

Hi All,
I got my M600i 2 days back and I have one problem that keeps cropping up. It says "No Power" but the battery is showing as 90%. I did a complete recharge and the batter was 100% but I am still getting a low battery warning. Is this something any of you fantastic symbian folks getting or Will I need to send this back for repairs already?
Any help is appreciated

I have had my M600i for just under a month....
The power display seems to be a slight bug at the moment and I am sure there would be an update relatively soon via the update service online....

Hi all M600i users. Can you confirm how much memory you have at boot time? In "Today" screen, please tap on "more" and then select "status".
I just just checked on a test set loaned to me and realises there were only 20MB left at boot time, out of a possible 64MB? Where did the 44MB goes to? The OS plus system apps?
I had just updated to R1B01 (all except BT, which stays at R3A01, while the rest are R1B01 after the upgrade) but still the available free memory at boot time is only 20MB...
I've also noticed the device very quickly took up many MB of memory and after killing these apps, the memory are still not being fully free up... |

Hey,
Ok, not 100% sure on this, but that free memory seems to be the 'RAM' available to the phone for running apps etc...
The rest of the memory is used for storage, and if you go to file manager you can see how much is left there...
the M600i has 80mb 'shared' memory, so some is actually for the OS to use, and some is for file storage.

Hi daz, see my reply in my-symbian. If anyone could recall, I am the one writing the very long posts about active Free RAM that applications needed to use when launching, just like the RAM in our PC  This really is not good cos with 64MB of RAM memory and the OS itself already took up 44MB at boot time, then there isn't much RAM left for any 3rd party apps to use before we started seeing "out of memory" messages or the OS started killing other background apps before allowing an application to start... this goes all the way back to P800 and P900 days...
I had tried reformatting the phone, and started testing firing up internal apps like calendar, tasks, notes, messages contacts and phone and believe it or not, just by starting these small internal applications which are completely empty without any entries, the phone took up about 9MB and left with about 10 - 11MB. Then I start the media player and playback a video file downloaded from SE website, this took another 2MB and I am left with between 8 - 9MB...

Just got mine today and loaded exchange activesync and synced with my exchange server no problem. Also push mail seems to work fine. But once everything loaded checked RAM and it only shows 10.4 MB free. Glad I have a 1GB card on order due this week.

the M600 looks so compact compared to the Universal! How do you find the call quality and speed of the two devices? I will hopefully able to check this myself on Friday. |

Never really used the Jasjar for voice calls that much and even then due to its size always used headset. However have made a test call on the M600 and quality seemed just as good. Data wise which is what I will use this for they seem on par with each other. Using 3G syncs quickly indeed. Will be glad not to have to carry around the Jasjar anymore as it was just too big but needed the 3G for larger emails. |

It gives you the option to Sync Email, Calendar and Contacts. No options though for subfolders and it does warn you to turn off your SE sync for the same items otherwise its warns duplications can happen. Its not quite as through as the MS Sync tool thats on the Jasjar but its enough for what I need. |

Hi cam1701, I believe your 10.4MB is the RAM memory and not the Flash memory. Don'y get confused cos flash memory you've got up to 80MB to install all your apps, which Exchange ActiveSync that you had installed should take no more than 2MB. RAM memory is the active free RAM that all your apps uses to startup and run properly, much like your PC RAM. By purchasing 1GB of extra external storage (M2 stick) will only help your available storage space for installing apps and store media files, but it will not help at all for starting up applications and keep them resident in memory. P990i and M600i comes with these:
RAM Memory: 64MB --> from "today" screen tap on "more" and goto "status" and look out for "free memory". Mine is only left with 8MB now.. just by starting up built in apps
Flash Memory: 128MB --> from "control panel" --> Other --> Uninstall and tap on "storage" will give you your available flash memory to install apps.
Remember, purchasing a 1GB or 4GB stick does not help RAM memory at all and very soon you will realise the OS starts auto killing background applications just to clear up some memory to other apps to be launched...

Sorry understand your piont now just thought it was general thing about how they advertise X amount of memory which is normally never obtainable. Did have similar problem with my Jasjar and the only way to keep they system running at its best was to reset every day otherwise soon the machine would slow down so much.
Been playing with settings and programs for a while now and have just checked RAM which was down to 6.7MB. So switched off and on now RAM back to 18.9MB. Suppose its just like the Jasjar and needs a reboot evey now and then. But i do understand your point about supplying machines with low or limited RAM. |
