Hello wanq, brix and all...keep 4getting to come back to the SA section.Like most newbies i tend to hang around the PXXX areas so as to learn more about the fone....I was always a Nokia fella(7610) being my last one BUT what with dissatisfaction with it and a geeky yearning i died and went to P910i heaven...lol...my new flavour of the month (after ten years on dialup) is Broadband wireless and this has changed the complexion of surfing....therebye freeing me up to continue the quest for the perfect venue to sup a Windhoek...
think i will place a shortcut to this page on the desktop....that should remind me (if i can see the shortcut amidst the disarray...lol)to return more often.
Nice to meet ya all....later,geek.
btw Kryp...Geeky question;what are "Labels?"

@da wannabe: Welcome to Esato's South African ghetto. When Kryptik is reffering to "Labels" he's talking about Black Label aka 10111 aka QuickCharge for it's ability to floor the uninitiated.

lol @ Brix, those Labels can be wicked!
Wanqsta, that prepaid deal on the 1100 sounds good, i'd stock up on a couple of them, use them as gifts to youngsters starting out.
@ Geeksta, why not stick this thread's icon onto the toolbar, boet? btw, i still lust after a P910i in a guilty sort of way, simply to see what the other side live like

Awu guys
I have some serious problems with phones.
My w800i died this weeekend, it was hit by the white screen f/w bug. It just does respond when trying to switch on it just gives you white screen.
I sent it away on saterday for medical attention. I hope to get it this week.
I'm just wondering if other fone brands have so many bugs on thier fones.
SE is really starting to dissapoint me. |

@da wanqsta: I'm feeling much better now. Anyone notice the big fuss being made about Vodacom's 3G tv service? R10/day to access it sounds pretty cheap before the novelty wears off. Just using the T68i after a while and have to say I'm still impressed with the T9 implementation.

@bongzino: It's possible that your W800i was shipped with the first fw. Last year Rhino also had fw problems his K700i. They should change it to the latest fw at Vodacare. @Rhino: Like I said it's a novelty. I would've preferred something like a DVB-H service. In the news section check for BT's Movido service which uses DAB signals.

I hate the way marketing is done.
Like when the advertise this mobile TV they just say "TV on your phone".
It sounds like it a normal TV like SABC ETV etc.
Samething happened when they were advertising the Walkman phone. It was like all the other phones never played mp3s.
Now on this mobile TV this R10/Day do you pay for data cost or it like vlive?

You don't pay for data costs, it's a seperate subscription service. Many of the shows you would've already seen on normal channels. It's a good idea but IMHO they should've used another method to bring tv to the mobile...I just don't like the idea of streaming.

Haven't really had time to do any sort of review of the SPV C550, but herewith a few pics of the phone and the Windows Mobile 5.0 interface.
Sorry for the iffy photo quality.
Note the 'start' shortcut on the left, just like on a PC...
...which takes you to the first menu:
Then after the 'more' option:
(note the flashing blue Bluetooth LED on the right of the speaker, and has a green one on the left of it, a la P900/ P910)
Music media options menu...
Windows Media Player menu options on the phone:
Media library...
More menus...
Typical Windows file manager 'tree':
Settings menu:
Further settings...
The Windows Mobile logo moulded into the battery cover.
Connector and charging jack have protective rubber cover as well.
1.3 MP cam & video.. No flash, though.
Will try take a few pics with the cam and try out the videos and pics on the TV, using the leads that came with the phone.
In all, not bad for just over £100. (approx R1120).

Jesus Christ mfowethu, could've warned us that the pics are massive...I stopped the browser when it went over 1MB.
Next time, just use a screen cap.
Nice phone though...especially at the price. |

Xolo brixsta,
I should've warned y'all...me being spoilt with broadband is no excuse either...and that's after scaling the pics down to 40%.
BTW, not that I really bother with any Lottery, but the European Lotto is at a record high for this Saturday...at £100 million Pounds.
Imagine winning R1 120 000 000...

I can't see any one person winning all that cash...it just won't be right.
This evening I was reading a hilarious interview with Liam and Noel Gallagher in Q Magazine as they dissed Coldplay and James Blunt...hadn't laughed so much in a while...all this while my next-door neighbours were having their usual weekly fight. And to think I moved out of Khayelitsha to avoid this drama. |

Time flies...to think Oasis were in their prime 10 years ago...
Personally, I don't care much for these whiny stereotyped Brit bands, but the Gallagher brothers are rather er..colourful, if not for all the 'right' reasons.
Another 2 new pics of the SPV, but reduced to a more kb-friendly 30% of the original.
The 320 x 240 pixel QVGA screen makes for some rich gameplaying.
A host of gameplay options with some of the new Windows Mobile games.
And now for the latest cellphone price-drop news:
A further reduction today on that NEC 411i with Bluetooth headset and Bush DVD recorder PAYG special with O2...now just £109.99. (approx R1240!)
