Why not post the question and response about RAM that YOU have gotten from them? |

Oh here we go again with the ram debate rearing its ugly head once again! Ok, firstly, I think its safe to assume that there is NOT 128MB vram. There is already 3d acceleration built into the MSM7x chipset and there wouldn't be an additional dedicated gfx chip there. The most powerful solutions, like the nvidia g5500 or intel 2700 are lucky to come in at 32mb. 128mb to power x-panels? Gimme a break! Not cost effective not to mention no ready made solution exists presently!
Secondly, if you are saying they are devoting 128MB to system radio stack, usb stack, etc then you must be joking, that would be akin to giving the OS 2GB Ram to run 'efficiently'!
Lastly, ok they could have upped the ram to 384MB but one of my initial doubts I posted the day after the webcast when news broke was how they could do this so late in the day (about a month away from release) in addition to Magnus not sounding too convincing when talking about the device especially when he went to talk about 'memory'. I mean jeez the guy compared a phone to an expensive suit!
384MB is overkill for x-panels. I can run tf3d on touch pro in addition to a 3rd party app similar to x-panels and still have sufficient ram available. Only real reason for having 384MB ram would be for WM7 upgrades (main reason I contemplated switching to X1 from TP). Though that does beg the question why would SE be so kind and give us that option?! Oh, not to mention that we've seen retail devices now with 200mb visible/256mb stated ram! |

Guys just imagine this.
We are those few customers on this planet earth who are already ready with approx $1200 to buy the X1. We are those premium customers compared to the ones using the Walkman series or any other SE phones. I dont want to be treated as a prince because I am a premium customer but I think its my right to atleast not be kept in the dark. I aint asking for a free handset or anything all I want to know from SE is what ram will i get when I pay $1200 or its like a lucky draw where I pay @1200 to find out how much RAM it has.
We all know even if X1 has 256Mb we are still gonna buy it. We are still the potential customers but let us be a happy potential customers.
SE has learn to press the SILENT button when a customer wants to speak to them. I have never heard SE stating anything about the phone release, the FW release the changes in the new FM and all. I think they are taking us for granted. |

How well does the x1 works as a music player?
Most phones carry on playing music when it goes into stand by mode but WM (at least on the tytn) turns the music off when the on/off button is pressed or it goes into stand by mode by timeout.
Does the x1 carry on playing music when the phone goes into standby (powersave mode)?
Does the dpad work as music controls in standby (powersave) mode?
Long shot but does the volume keys work as previous/next when held down, as in Se's A200 phones? |

So you're planning to overpay by $300? Overseas Electronics in Chicago has the X1 available for preorder at $899. |

I don't think it would be feasible for ANY company to address every rumour and speculation about it's products. They have their official documentation (X1 white paper), so that is their answer to all questions.
Think about all of the misinformation we get about the X1. It's always due to human error or bias. I'm more willing to believe official documentation and physical evidence--not just the random website posting.
As far as what Magnus said during the release video, it is either A) human error or B) SE is now using some crazy scheme for counting RAM for marketing purposes. I choose A. |

Thanks for the answers! I'm glad to hear the music doesnt cut out when the on/off button is pressed or the phone goes into standby. Some music controls in standby would have been ideal, without having to use the touchscreen. So that it would be useable as a mp3 player without having to get the phone out of the pocket.
Is there a torch function? (very important function, as always)
The only other Wm issue I can think of right now is the standard file browser is difficult to use with the finger cos of the small font. |
