@Aya: FYI I have three land lines. One fixed wired, one fixed wireless and one wireless mobile, I'm not endangered.
As you've pointed out, since most of your calls are to fixed lines, it only makes logical sense for you to use a fixed wireless line too. Most of my calls are terminated on GSM networks hence my preference for that medium.
@Angel: have fun in the east, while I keep the fort here in the west.

Just got back to the wired world of Abuja. Since none of the 4 GSM networks have considered my hometown worthy of a single base station, I was cut off from the world. Thank God for Satellite TV: God TV, FETV and BBC World kept me happy.

I am back in Abuja and may spend the New Year here (boooouuuring) Maybe I will look for someone to go bowling with....hmmm

@Aya: apart from calls to other land lines, I do not see considerable savings being made by switching from GSM to cdma. Remember the PTO's do not offer per second billing, so each dropped call, calls terminated at voicemail, or calls under 20seconds duration will all be billed at N20-N25per min. In the long run, you'll end up spending as much as you did with GSM plus you have lost the option of free mms and sms. Thumbs Down

I do blive the cdma is a better option 4 heavy callers.
Happy new yr in advance guys.

Thanks Guys! Was it here someone asked for our best/worst events of 2005?
Worst: The death of my junior brother.
Can't-Believe-I-didn't-achieve-this Award: Getting a wifey
Best: Let me see... hmmm.... still thinking....

I also did my financial end-of-year review today:

The result: I made less money than last year!

My income was down. (I have to make 500k in the next 2 days to match 2004). My giving to God/people also dropped (but atleast it reached the usual 100k mark... which is a relief). My GSM phone bill was down (which is good). Only my internet spending (cybercafe tickets) was higher than 2004.

I keep a record of my income/giving plus all my recharge cards and cybercafe tickets so that I can gauge my performance.

I want to try out VoIP with anyone here who has downloaded skype. You can get it at www.skype.com. For those who don't know, it allows free PC-to-PC calls. I also have Yahoo with voice and Google Talk (which has a tiny setup file). Anyone wants a go?

On CDMA... I think Lagosians are luckier than most. It makes sense for ppl like AYA to use it for business calls since it is becoming common place. Multi-links just announced SMS too.

Just in: Glo now has a N150 recharge card.

@coola: Talking of 2005 in review, its a mixed bag for me.

1.This year, I have made more than twice what I made last year.

2. I have invested more than I did last year.

3. But... I spent more on internet access (especially GPRS) and phone bills (mostly GSM). I have already rectified this and expect to see a significant drop in this aspect of my expenses.

4. Of course, seeing that my daughter arrived late last year, there's a significant increase in domestic expenses (but hey, a baby's a good thing, so no complaints here!)

2005 has been good. I intend to take things to another level next year. I'll play my part and expect God's help as always.

On the GSM versus CDMA dichotomy, Starcomms, Reltel and Multilinks now offer SMS. Already, SMS can be sent from Reltel to GSM networks and vice versa. Doubtless, the others will soon join in. MMS and WAP will follow shortly.

@brym: I did succeed in a measure in fulfilling that resolution. But I must admit that old habits die hard and I let slip again here and there.

Of course, I intend to improve on being a harder business person in 2006. People just love to take undue advantage of nice guys. Aluta continua!!
