@Sony G
Thanks for the info. I looked at that thread you linked. I ordered a sim free C905 so I would have expected a genuine sim free phone and not one which has simply had an operator decal removed and then passed off to me as sim free. Will investigate this with the supplier and report back.
Can anyone else who ordered a sim free C905 confirm that their's arrived as advertised with the cybershot decal?

return the phone. its meant to have a cybershot tag below the screen.
especially since its a sim free one you ordered.
if it were voda or orange branded phone, it would hae one of those logos under the screen.
ask for an exchange for a new phone.
good luck

Oops posted this in wrong other thread,
As explained I've had issues with the Orange firmware and I am very close to simply debranding, however I have a couple of queries.
On a non branded phone what does the Blogger Function do? Does it allow you to upload photos to anywhere? Also does it keep the geotagging data when you upload?
In respect to geotagging does that only work when GPS is on? Or does it give a more general inaccurate tag when GPS is not on?
There have been many issues with Google Maps, is there anyway to get the version of GM that is on the non-branded handsets?

@SE-Naz
About two weeks dude, and so far so good - but i'll keep an eye out for any problems and report back if there are any - mine was from the initial batch of C905's...
@Phoenix
You're welcome, happy to have helped. Although, it is strange to see a SIM Free C905 arrive minus the Decal - something is strange there..I smell gone off Nigiri sushi...!
Sony Alpha.

I've been in touch with the supplier and they have asked me to return the phone and they will send out a replacement. I does seem a bit fishy, but it's a well established UK company who I have bought from several times going back over 5 years and never had a problem. Most strange.

Good good,
Nice to hear!
We think branding by networks is bad in the UK...here in Japan they physically brand the handset, as in the actual phone is embossed with the logo! Although its done very discreetly so thats okay...

What issues have you had on Orange Chris? Mine's on orange and apart from the software they pulled in firmware it all seems to work as it should now.

Its mainly the stuff they have removed, a bit annoyed that I can't seem to geo-tag to be honest. |

I've just updated my debranded C905 to the latest generic firmware R1BA042 and it's a big improvement.
Two most noticeable things....GPS connects much much faster...it was taking up to 20 mins to get satellite signals, now it's seconds....and battery life appears to be better...been using mine now for more than 24 hours and battery is still two-thirds full.
Apparently, the new firmware also installs support for the latest Java games and apps.
But it doesn't change the camera software...that's the same as with 38. |

Still no luck for me with the fw, might have to use da Vinci.
However, on the da Vinci website, they say they have got R1AA083 firmware? Any ideas? |

You can at least use the WiFi for FOTA (update service).

FOTA = Firmware update Over The Air; > Menu > Settings > Update service > Search for update, after connected successfully follow the instructions (eats a lot of money if not on WiFi)
