Well u can always change the language ... there are like 7 or 10 to choose from. Elgiganten and onoff had both colors on display and were on of course ... so i checked cause i saw some ppl on a swedish forums stating that you can't change the language but that's not true.

Would you really want another half-assed, mid-end device from SE? Haven't we had enough of that fodder already?

The poster asked about an xperia mid end device, ie a mid end device with an xperia UI. Unless I'm somehow stuck in some alternative dimension, I am pretty sure no such device currently exists?

I think it's perfectly reasonable for someone to wish for a mid end xperia...espercially since many many end user's budgets will not stretch to the asking price of the X1

Xperia is SE's high-end brand. So my guess is never.

Xperia is not SE's high end brand. They have stated before they plan to roll out xperia to different martet segments not just high end.

Xperia is not to be confused as just another name for X1.

@Jabe: I am relaxed 0_o. What do you mean with it's just a phone? Why do you come to Esato to discuss stuff like just phones? Sure it's just a phone, but, do I have to read it's a HTC in every page of this thread?

@indup: Don't worry ;]

@Humble: As I said in my post, it was nothing personal to you so no need t be sorry for anything m8 :]

@pinguino2: Yes if you want to blame someone for the slowness, then yes is to blame and not HTC.

@S4k1s, We all know who is making the device and who is paying for the honor to have their logo placed thereon. I further believe SE's R&D has been disbanded. Whith HTC taking care of the top end and Sagem of the bottom, who needs R&D And yes,the device will be more expensive because the profits (if any) will have to be shared by 3 companies Microsoft for the OS, HTC for making it and SE for the branding.

bit of a pointless argument mario - 90% of non-HTC branded WM devices are developed this way. Any non HTC WM device manufacturer has to pay MS and HTC. But of course you always find a way to represent SE business practices as somehow faulty when most of the others work in exactly the same manner.

What you don't seem to get is that individual manufacturers put there own mark on the HTC platform, this is what differentiates HTC devices from eachother.

To piggyback what Max is saying, almost any form of manufacturing/business is done in this manner--partnerships.

Do you have sources for that? I'm pretty sure they stated that all Xperia's will be high-end "premium" devices regardless of their OS.

Is there such a thing as an Xperia UI?

Well molecule, we'll have to fight about that, because I don't want a half-assed rush job. Nor do I want a cheezy-built device. I like X1 the way it is

@whybe Not so much a UI (poor choice of words) as an "experience", but no doubt the panels is one of the key aspects of that exerience.

I can't find the reference that Xperia is destined for the mid-end, but neither that it isn't.

According to the patent office, Xperia was referred to as ‘cellular or mobile phones featuring the capacity to function in any number of extra ways beyond just as a phone’"

This could apply to mid range devices as well as high end. For example a G900 like handset, a mid-range device, with panels? Not such an unlikely proposition.

Maybe Xperia will be limited to high end but I doubt it personally.

Also, if X1 is a flop, we may not even see another Xperia handset

So I gues we have to wait and see.

Smartphone.

I seriously doubt if it flops.

Supposedly the next Xperia will be Symbian based. But, I'm sure anything branded Xperia will be considered high-end. The next P-series device could be an Xperia.

not necessarily. 1. the G900 is a smartphone but not high end. (look at the pricing) 2. A mid range feature phone could fullfil the patent specification.

I agree, I was just saying "if", but I agree it's quite unlikely.

Maybe, but I wouldn't be surprised that if the Xperia line takes off then there will be a range of mid to high end and maybe even a low end. Look at other branding efforts - aka cybershot, walkman. Both started off as a high end feature phone and eventually worked their way down the models.

Matttil, you should experience that on your own, i am not 100% sure about it, but about 80%.

Anyways,
Xperia could get into "mid-high" segment rather than mid. Whats the purpose of G series then?
X was stated by sonyericsson that it would be there to fulfill the needs of high demanding users(read it somewhere), and i think its because of that, that they started X series with a windows mobile(one of the most sophisticated os out there).

Oh, if you guys did watch the ep 9 of johnny X, i think the to be continued stuff would be continued for X2?
