Yes, you're right, but i am referring to the networks. If i had a spare £600 I'd have got one by now, but alas I don't

£600 is a lot of money!
The stores in UK are ripping you off..
Should be more like 450-500£ if it should match the price here.

Hi all,
Wasn't sure where is should post this so i'll just stick it in here.
Im trying to set my phone up to access internet via vodafone's settings and went to the se website and filled in details for e-mail, mms etc.
My problem is that i can view any website via gprs, (this has a connection priority of 2, wifi is 1) but if i go directly to vodafone live it connects via wap. I can view mobile tv and whatever but if i want to go to a different site afterwards it still connects via wap.
Have i totaly got myself confused here, i thought GPRS was cheaper option becaused it is priced per kb?

@jmcconnell
My understanding:
- for WAP there is a specific APN, which probably points to a proxy server for Voda live (ie Voda's extranet)
- for Internet this a APN that allows access to the internet
Both APNs are accessed via GPRS/3G.
(APN= Access Point Name) |

Isn't wap actually just the name of the language? Like html...
Wap-pages can be accessed throug GPRS. And via 3G you can use GPRS in high speed. (up to 384kbit/s)
The old connectionmethod is called CDA... thats when you "call" for connection. And pay per minute..
Then there are diffrent GPRS-access ways... via diffrent servers...
Am I totaly wrong here?

Right Mobileshop now claim their deliveries are another week away, claiming Customs are holding everything up. MM other companies seem to be getting theirs ok, the county doesn't seem to be locked down at all.
I think I'm going to cancel, does anyone know if Scancom actually have stock?

any update with mobileshop?
their order tracking still says:
"The Sony Ericsson P990i is on pre-order. We will complete your order as soon as stock arrives. The first delivery should be this week hopefully although we are as yet unsure of the quantity."
same as it has done for over a week now... |

Has any body run Handy Safe / Handy Days (3rd party software) on your phone? I was about to purchase them but I wonder if they are running okay on P990. |

Just did the following:
- listen over BT with HBH-DS970
- sync with laptop via BT
Only had a few interruptions in music!
Also surfed GPRS and 3G (switching) and listened to the HBH-DS970
Seems pretty good performance. Must try the FM Radio as Masseur's P990 crashes while surfing etc

@jah,
I had no problem surfing and listening to the radio at top quality. The problem is if you want to leave your browser open and go to say calendar and or messaging.. In order to facilitate those the phone kicks out the browser..Thank god without anymore crashing!! At least that is a mjor improvemenet.
I keep playing with it too to see how much it can take..

I posted my 'stress' test at the same time as Masseur posted his! I think its great that you can do 2 BT tasks at the same time.
I have tried what Masseur was talking about, you can run three apps if you start from a re-boot. After using web/media player/messaging you seem to lose a few mb of RAM and so you can't run all three apps again.

Hey, I know this is a discussion about the P990i but I figured this'd be a good place to ask.
I'm debating whether to get the M600i, but just a couple of questions if someone could be so kind as to answer them.
1) Does the M600's touch screen recognise writing, like you write the letter "D" on the screen with the stylus pen and it comes out as a "D" on the phone? Or is the touchscreen a simple point-and-touch?
2) For the support of Word, Excel etc, it doesn't come with those programs installed does it? Do you have to buy software for that or what? Stupid question I know but I've never bought a remotely-pda-ish phone ever before so I have no idea.
Thank you in advance. Are there any other good similar phones that anyone recommends?

welcome
this is a discussion about the P990 rather than the P900 but I;m sure thats just a typo from you!
1) yes you can write on the screen to form letters or use the virtual keyboard
2) its comes with a version of quickoffice that support excel and word documents and there is also a PDF viewer.
These answers also apply to the P990
