@Masseur You said earlier that you are stuck with Voda preset config settings? Does that mean I will not be able to enter my own config settings for "3"? |

Adding data accounts is blocked on mine. Would be logical if it were unblocked though at the time of unlocking the phone. (best to inquire first though.... you never know!)
But you won't be able to delete the Voda data accools and profiles, they are predefined and stuck forever.

Well I am getting an unlocked version from Swiss I hope it works, as my girlfriend will be there and I wont get a chance to go and buy it. |

well..... on an unlocked phone you have to be allowed to add data accounts anyway, so if worst comes to worst Voda will have to find a way to enable it.

Sim free does not mean the mobile will be free of Vodafone profiles and sw.

Indeed jucame, there is no other fw for V800 available to us but the Vodafone software, so all it's links and predefined items will remain even on the sim-free phones.

I doubt it mate. Here in NL all V800 phones are simlocked to Vodafone, even if you buy them offline. Means Voda will have to unlock it for you.

well I don't know about London, but here it is certainly possible to ask vodafone to unlock the phone for you.
It would be useless though, as currently Vodafone has the only 3G network (aside from KPN) you can accesss anyway.
But instead of posting this question 4 times on this forum in several threads, perhaps you could give vodafone or even CPW or someplace a call an explain to them you want to buy that phone off-contract and need to have it unlocked (make up any reason! I usually use 'travelling' as my excuse should I need an unlocking code and usually get it)
Ask them if they can accomodate. Sorted

@Vlam
Thanx for ur suggestions..
Yes, i wud hv already call and do my research and all of that etc etc. if only im in london or anywhere near there.... but im in asia, im an asian boy outside Japan who wants V800... so i can ask a fren of mine in london directly to get me one OFFLINE UNLOCK V800 and post it to me... juz like that but,
so far this is wat i know baut unlocking V800,
1. Unlocking AVAILABLE
2. Unlocking available ONLY for contract NOT for offline V800
3. Unlock by vodafone in London NOT sure
4. Offline V800 NOT sure available coz no one said anything about offline.
5. Offline V800 how much it COST??
6. By unlocking, does it work by using other sims outside Europe? eg. asia sim. (coz mos asian countries dont practise network branded phones)
so i hope with members in esato wud help confirm my findings.. coz its the only way i can communicate with foreign people with the same goal, SonyEricsson.
ps, the CAPS represents the key words, sorry if i sound demanding or anything like that, juz wanna highlight. Very appreciated if anyone cud help me out with my 6questions... i hope u all know how i feel without a V800 at hand..

It might be a requirement to unlocking your phone after all. Regarding the V800 being available to other networks, I was looking over an old thread and discovered an interesting theory on why the the V800 and Z1010 may not be released to other networks.
