After reading many reviews, seeing some more better camera images taken by S5 & hearing many say how much better TW is now & battery life. I took the plunge & got one!! Now,I know what you shall all say but it is a very likable device. Solidly built, gorgeous screen, amazing camera, water resistance etc etc. I got a brand new one in white for £439 from a store near me. It was brand new with all stickers and covers on out the box but the box was opened to check it as it was sold to the shop. Am always doing a good deal with this local store. So far,so good

Congratulations. Since you had a Z2 for a brief period it would be nice to read your impressions of Z2 vs S5 |

Well, compared to Z2 the screen is vibrant really bright & crisp. Sometimes depending on the chosen wallpaper almost too bright But it is the first smartphone in a while where I can properly see the screen in sunlight or daylight. Taking a selfie I can actually see myself. Anyway to the more serious stuff, battery life is fine, build quality no creaks or bends & feels just the right weight. Camera much better than I first thought & I love the wide screen @ 16mp resolution!!!!!! Performance I have to say Samsung have really improved Touch Wiz ALOT!! So far there is no lag ANYWHERE!! The improved look & feel of the Android skin is a nice breath of fresh air. Compared also to the S4 the signal is stronger also. Camera compared to the Z2,hmmm now I would say the Z2 is poor imo. We all know here how fussy I can be & the Z2 camera was really out of focus in places(without pixel peeping)for such an expensive piece of equipment I was yet again let down by Sony & I am certainly not going to buy their handsets again unless there is some huge massive change. The S5 considering it has a 5.1 inch screen it is so pocketable & slim & overall just a likable phone. Yeah, the Z2 had more 'premium' materials but I have these days changed my opinion on this. Aluminium & too much glass is too heavy, more prone to scratches on the metal, the Z2 is top heavy also. I now see that plastic/polycarbonate is alot more durable & less prone to scratches & dents after drops. Nokia being a good example of this. I have also for a long time loved MASSIVE phablets but have now gone off them after recent purchases of Lumia 1520 & HTC One Max they were all just too big to handle from day to day & I found it just wasn't for me anymore. A everyday smartphone the size of the GS5 etc or smaller HTC's etc or Nokia's are more for me now. Perhaps I have gone through the entire mobile market to find what is really for me. But anyway it is a decent device and for the time being is staying in my pocket now (two months)
The new multi tasking left softkey is a welcome addition as before it was always the home hardware key which made it slower though it did take some getting used to. Music player sounds excellent but the back speaker is a little bit muted sounding probably due to membrane for water resistance. And I hate the bottom flap for the charging port but I can live with it for the sake of peace of mind from water accidents. The new settings menu is a little overwhelming but you can change it back to list or tab view which was good of Samsung cos I don't like the default option as it makes finding stuff a little longer

A lot of it is down to small personal preferences I guess. I'll probably go back to a metal or glass phone, plastic doesn't do it for me. I'll forever disagree on the camera, Z2 is top especially when you print. I think you've been a bit quick to get the S5 because the LG G3 will be your next phone anyhow. Two months you say....we shall see. |

Actually no cos the G3 is going to be too pricey on release more than likely and right now am saving for me holidays. And as for two months that was a joke taking the piss outta myself. Think more people on here need to take things less seriously and have a sense of humor

I don't like those smartphones with a huge optical zoom attached looks hideous but that's just me

Bono, whats your opinions on the S5 camera now? as in the past you said you thought the S4 took better pics? also has your opinion changed about Samsung image stabilization?
It's a real shame that the S5 doesn't have OIS, especially when it seems the S5 Active will have it. |

Well it came down to some images people took I thought they looked not as good as S4. But yeah I do like it alot now and in daylight it has excellent details haven't tested in night time yet. I have steady hands anyway 😆
