A lot of cons!!!
yep, and the majority of them relate to the ergonomics. why o why couldnt they have had a normal d-pad, with a normal centre key. why did they have to stuff the d-pad in the middle of the number keypad, and put the 'center' key at the top?
ps, ill add a few more pro's actually, that i forgot:
- i love the motion thing where the pic changes wen u turn the phone
- love the new phonebook, were u can go into the contact at the touch of a button, instead of like b4 were u had to go into options then edit
- love that se have gone back to having answer/end keys. at the end of the day its a phone, and the 1st thing a phone should have is a green answer and red hangup button.
but overall, as u can see, far more cons then pros unfortunatly, not for me this one. dissapointed as i loved the K8** series till now wen, imo, theve ruined it. i dont belevie y they had 2 make the phone so chunky when most ppl want smaller phones these days, the N95 can be justified as it has GPS/wifi and its a smartphone but not k850. little bit smaller and better thought out ergonomics would have made this one hell of a phone. |

exactly, and the dpad and softkeys are going 2 be the buttons u use the most. no matter how used 2 it u get, it wont change the fact they are not user freindly at all, compared 2 traditional d-pad/joystick. u can get used to a bed made of nails if u give it enough time, dont mean its good. |

Whilst I can agree with most of the points made, I can be pretty sure that most of them are just simply teething issues. After a couple of weeks I'm sure it'll be second nature.
It's the same with everything. When nokia put the select button in the middle of the D-pad (6230) everyone moaned and was too confused as to what was going on (hence why they made it more blatant on the 6230i by putting a chrome square in the middle of the dpad)
It's just getting used to it.
I'm not quite sure about the "chunkiness" comment either. It's smaller than the K800 is, doesn't have the big bulge on the back (which I HATED) and is more or less totally smooth. Feels much nicer in the hand. Yes it is slightly heavier, but I think it feels of better quality because of that.
I personally love that everything is flush. Having to clean out the video call camera on the K800 was useless, as was the main camera! No need to do that on the K850.

Most of those could be put all under one con as the keypad and its usage, or more specifically how it's different to previous SE models. Many people have commented, I myself found that I got used to it pretty quickly, maybe because I'm used to using Nokias and Motos too.
Chances are with the flash that he's covering the light sensor.
The File Manager is there.. it's just located in the Organiser sub-menu as opposed to the 4x3 grid as with previous models.
And, were you expecting it to be radically different from all the dozens of previews that have been posted all over the place? I don't get how you're so shocked that it's basically a K800 with nicer screen, higher res camera, Walkman 3 and a couple of fancy menu effects? These are the kind of things you probably should have been aware of before you got it.
It's like buying a bike, and going "Whaaat.. it only has two wheels!?". Duh..
The K850 is a known entity, it's been hyped up (and down!) for months, and any forum readers or mobile enthusiasts with any sense buy it knowing full well it has some quirks/shortcomings depending on how you look at it.

i think a lot of the stuff ud get used to. but i dont think id get used to the stiff buttons, or the enter key. also the softkeys would occasionally not respond or lag/freeze (its happened a few times already) i wouldnt get used 2 that. also not having file explorer so not being able 2 visually see where ur files r.
i like smooth phones as well, i HATE bulges like wot k800i. i prefer flat. but i wasnt comparin it 2 k800, it was 2 my current k810 which is quite flat. k850 definatly feels far chunkier then k810. it feels nice if u forget 4 a sec that its a phone an u have 2 carry it round with u all the time. not worried bout weight anyway, just the size. it wos this or n95 and imo n95 has won on this occasion (altho still considerin w910i) |

Can someone please interpret sonin95's post's on my behalf as i'm a little lacking in textspeak , agree with Memzee, K850i IS a known quantity so no excuses for buying blind and THEN moaning about it.

ok 1st of all if u cant understand that 'b4' means before or wotever, then ur 2 stupid 2 us a mobile fone (phone). and obviously u cant c that most of my issues with it would have been impossible 2 no bout till i had actually brought an used it. how u gonna no wot the keypad REALLY feels like 2 use from previews? or how the touchscreen would b 2 like use? etc etc. its not like i thought it was 7mp an it turned out 2 be 5mp, or i thought it had wifi an it didnt. these things yea i should no b4 i buy, and i do. i didnt buy blind and im not moanin bout things i shoulda know beforehand. |

I don'tsuppose anyone has seen this available in Spain yet?
I'll be in Barcelona this weekend and will be on the lookout for one
to answer my own post now that I am here... no, it doesn't appear to be in any shops yet however I've ordered a sim free online and its on its way.
I'm quite impressed by the O2 version pics earlier and the O2 theme seems to go very well with the blue lighting!
I didn't expect to buy another SE non-symbian for quite a while but this K850 really has my interest

My first (1 hour) thoughts
Oddly feeling mix of almost touch sensitive screen of the top 3 buttons and the traditional "push"
Why one of the main screen icons dedicated to alarm? & Phone status not available from side buttons but buried in the menus.
Still no text message received flashing LED (cheap Nokias have them)
Miss the top two buttons on the k800 that went straight to the pics
Media still to be explored but looks promising.
Perhaps a little negative that the 5Meg camera will overcome when daylight arrives

Well its rather odd that you can buy one on T-mobile from CPW, but T-mobile themselves dont have it.
