Thats why I think that Johnex is right. My wife got a P990i from here work and we had our phones exactly the same. But she had this restarts all the time with incoming calls.

Does this not sound more like a hardware issue. I would assume the firmware for all the phones is the same.

Q: How doe sone tell which version of phne one has. I suspect mine is NOT Generic 1 (might be Generic 2).

My advise is, before doing the update, format the internal memory and do a master reset and avoid using the PCSuite restore command for anything other than the unified inbox.

I did a format and master reset before and after the upgrade but I do use the Synchronise now option as I have 800+ contacts and there is no other way for me to restore that list.

The restartsgo so bad that I got me a K550i and moved my public SIM to that phone and am going to wait till the P990 settles down. I lvoe the harware format and other features and believe that SE will eventually fix all versions of this phone.

BTW any evidence that SE ever viists this forum?

Is it just me or is SE late with FW? By that i mean that previous FWs were out @ start of the month.. dont get me wrong, i dont care if i have to wait for another month or so, as long as they get something done. Anyone has any predictions about new FW comming?

Yes there is. Make a backup copy to your memory stick from within contacts (also applies to calendar) and later just restore from your mem stick rather than using PCSuite backup/restore.
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD

I see there are a lot of fanatics for SE phones on this forum.

It has been noted in other forums that esato is biased to SE.
I have been reading the posts throughout since I got my P990 and I have to say it is true.

"P990 is superfast with latest firmware" as some of you posted.

Funny!!!!

Even my friends who I gave my phone to try to see if you guys were talking some sense, SAID the phone is really SLOW!!!!! ALMOST all the apps takes no more than 2 seconds to load except for the one loaded in memory.
One guy almost damaged my screen coz he kept tapping an app and it took so long to load.

HAHAH!!!!

By comparing the latest f/w with the first one on my phone, then it IS superfast now. And this IS a smartphone, and they will never get as fast as a regular phone

You CAN have a split point of view. I own both a P990i and a N80 and I love them both

Any insider info when will the next new firmware be available on SEUS?
I really hope it allows us to turn off transitions, fix the camera autofocus .. among others.

And just what did you expect on a P990 thread? If you had read the posts you would have seen that we bash SE most of the time for their incompetent programming on an otherwise excellent hw design.
As far as the speed goes, I have no complaints with the current version. I use TP to disable transitions, so SE could take a hint there.
Smart phones are bound to be slower than limited function dedicated phones, it's a trade off for functionality, customization and portability.
Having used comparable models from other brands, I have to say that the Pxx series phones are the best breed as far as the above features are concerned, at least I find that they fit my needs better. In its current condition, the P990 unfortunately lags behind the other Pxx series phones, that is why we are trying to get SE to give us the full potential (translated good fw).
On a final note, I don't see any fanatics here, a lot of people have different experiences with the P990, due to installation procedures, additional sw installed and just plain technical savvy. As a result, some people really get along with their P990s while others are having genuine difficulties.
A friend of mine recently bought a P990, after using it for a week, she told me it was a "difficult" phone designed for "engineers". I think this explains a lot.

After I upgraded to R4B03 restarts while receiving calls became rare and suddenly the last 3 days I get at least 2 restarts a day. If the problem is because of restoring a previous back up shouldn't it appear as soon as I restore? And not 3 weeks later?

The incoming call restart is really strange. In my case I had it the same day after the update and no other restarts since then.
