No it doesnt. Im not sure how many frames per second but its qcif. The w900 was a one off as it had a built in Nvidea GeForce card which allowed it to film at such a high rate.
As i said the spec says qcif but at the same time in th w810 white paper the number of fps was stated. This could be down to a number of things. The white paper was an early edition at wich time SE wernt sure about what framerate to implement. This is which many of the detailed reviews such as the one in mobile-review did not publish examples of video capture. ................................
There is one set of videos floating around from Spain supposedly showing good video capture, but i dont know if its true or not.
You must also bear in mind that the white paper we have seen is an early version and a new one may be updated soon. The idea of whitepaper updates is to reflect changes to the phone - ie: possible higher frametrate capture for video.

The reason you probabaly wont see that sort of resolution for filming in phoines more fro SE is because having that card on the phons hardware puts a strain on the battery.
Its a fact that the only reason the w900 can shoot in such high res modce is becasue there is an on board graphics card made by Nvidia. Infact heres a quote:
The model is experimental to kick the interface and graphic accelerator with resolution
Due to the 3D accelerator it became possible to get video records of resolution of 240õ320 pixels and frequency of 30 frames per second.

If SE plannd to keep using this new inteface dont you think theywould have used it within the k800. Dont get me wrong but if SE need to sacrifice asome battery time to accomodate good video recoding then thats what they should do. I mean even Nokia 6280 takes better video. I mean that shoots in VGA. Ill probabaly end up eating my word cos SE will soon announce another lot of phones but for the time being video capture is one area where SE is behind the rest of the market.

A good point, but i dont think its correct.
SE have always had rather lazy video recording implementation, and they've always been behind Nokia, Samsung and Sharp. I dont think its anything to do with the W900i's hardware why the K800i does not have better video recording, its to do with SE cutting corners or possibly assuming most customers would not use the function and so force video to be used for MMS.
The P990i has higher resolution video recording, and it has no added Nvidia hardware AFAIK. I'd put it all down to the W900i simply being a faster phone, as is the P990i. The K800i still probably uses the same chipset components as the K750i.
Thats the reason why when and if i do buy the K800i, it'll be on PAYG rather than sim free, meaning it'll cost me less, or unless i get an absolute bargain for one. When its released, i dont intend to rush out and buy one.

^ good, the k750 is an amazing phone... and certainly a winner until its times up, when the next lot of high-end phones come out.

Notice how i used the word probably, meaning SE probably do. Thats not me stating they do, but saying theres a chance its true.
I dont doubt the K800i uses a new set of hardware, but most likely its all still based around the hardware used in the K750i, and probably (theres that word again) the K700i before it.
Ive always thought SE cut corners hardware wise regarding their none-smartphone portfolio, and the lack of improved video resolutions makes me think that all the more.

Reusing and improving hardware and software can only be a good thing. When you have invested heaps of money on a platform, it makes sense. The K800 can probably record video at hi res, but a software or business decision has influenced its absence. All this whinging about video recording is just pointless, so move on people!

yes i guess we hafta move on people... K750/K800 having good megapix camera is just but enough to be called as a good freakin phone.
add up java functionalities, apps running in the back ground... good auto focus... nice stereo loudspeaker...
just let go with the video OK? AFAIK it functions well enough for its built in and out. compare it to others who was good vids but with lousy still pix. choose your sticks for cryin out loud. if you want a phone with good video and think SE doesnt produce such things... then go for the other brand... and hopefully you guys wont knack about it havin lazy still pix.
ei guess what... maybe SE is on the brink of making phones with good vids. just be patient enough and enjoy the present unparalleled features. and hold yer pants for less than we know theyre prolly cookin up sumthin under our noses.
cheers!

I think 3 may actually be the first network to get this ( and probabaly along with Voda ahead of o2)
Ive spoken with 3 people who work at three who say they and o2 are the only network so far to have received the k800. Apparently O2 will delay it and three will release it 1st weeks of June!!!!!! |
