ajack, are you sure DNS is layer-4 and GPRS is only layer-2? Your using which model? TCP/IP?
Even if it is GPRS shouldn't only be layer-2.
All biling would still have to be done by an application, hence the application layer. Though at which layer the packet is stripped until the billing application would recognize/count the packet would depend on the system involved. |

No there's no separate billing what I mean is billing is done by some software/system that count how many byte that goes through. How that is done is really up to the programmer of that system.
The lower the layer in OSI or TCP/IP model, the more byte is added because of encapsulation.
Quick question, if u guys ARE going to Starbucks, itsn't it cheaper & faster to use Starbuck wireless connection

Theoretically GPRS can reach speed of up to 171.2kbps. But realistically you won't go higher than your average 56K modem.
Though I don't know fast is your TM Net 56K connection. But I do know my home Maxis Net 41K modem connection IS faster than my T310 Maxis GPRS.
Wait wait wait... I've re-read a couple pages of past post... and I think that some of you guys mention using GPRS for free. Is that true?
