@killmaster9 or others who have X1

1.Could you please try to create some office files, specially word and type some text. Does it respond fast?
2.Also to try read some pdf files? I suppose it is nice on that screen.
3.About audio, is it loud enough for listening for example audio books on the street via headphones?
4.Could you type fast putting the phone on the desk?
5.Are camera pictures better than from P1?
6.Does video recording look nice on the PC?
7.Can you watch youtube on the browser?
8. Can you open more than 4 web sites?
9.Can you save email attachment before opening it?
10.Can you receive bluetooth files directly on the memory card?
11.Is pictures or recorded video gallery browsing fast?

I know this is lot of questions but there are a lot of small things I need to know before changing my faithfull P1

Since the X1 will come pre-installed IE and Opera, are we able to download mozilla firefox onto the phone?

Not until there's a Windows Mobile version of Firefox(assuming that ever happens).

In a few weeks is what I have read. WM 6 and Linux phones.

Just got confirmed that my Xperia X1 is the real deal and no prototype etc. The version I have is the one that will be available in shops starting this friday the 10th (official launch date in Sweden).

So there we go, 256MB RAM is the final thing.

Look I know thats what you want to believe, but that doesnt make it the truth

Hehe well I dont know who wants to belive what, but sure if you decide to still think that my unit is a prototype then well I cant stop you. Not that many days to go until it will be in stores and then we will all find out whats going on.

Have fun!

The 384mb RAM always sounded strange - a non standard amount (RAM usually doubles, so 128 -> 256 -> 512),

Is 512 standard?
Is 128 standard?
512 - 128= 384 Standard?

Hi all!

I will answer many of the previous questions. This is a retail version. We got 2 to the store yesterday. And yes, we can't sell it before the 10th. But hey, I don't sell one to myself...

And yes, it is 256 Mb of RAM. This is a retail version!

Can you post a picture of the label in the back without the battery?

storage and ram are completely different. you can't 'store' anything in ram so having 400mb or even 1gb storage prebuilt is irrelevant!

killmaster are you sure they are retail units as to get only 2 units for sale is a little odd?! seems the confusion isn;t going to end till retail date!

You can not store in RAM, Ramdom Access Memory is Volatile. When you turned off it's gone.
RAM is the "working" memory where programs run.

Nice triple post dude.

I went into the Optus store on the way home from work and they said that the Aussie release has been pushed back to early January...

Man I should have deleted my storage comment. No one is claiming you can store user data in RAM. We were just referring back to the bad old days of WMPPC when user storage WAS in RAM (and yes it was volatile - you could never let the battery go flatg without first backing up your ppc)

Hey early owners of X1... could it be you received a X1 "C&J" model (whatever that means) as stated in this post: http://blog.se-nse.net/2008/10/07/new-x1-hands-on-video/ ??? No offense to you, I am really happy for you, just trying to get some light into the "RAM-issue"... Personally I donīt care too much about whether X1 has 256 oder 384mb of ram. As long as it works smoothly, I am fine with either ram size...

cheers.

The first thing I am doing when I get mine is to open it up to reveal the internal architecture ,
I dont care about voiding warranty, all in the aid of Knowledge and solid facts
I will see if there are any additional (vram, ram)modules ie 2x64Mb so I be
sherlocking, that main cpu board...I am pleased that they are utilising Qualcomm 65nm variant (msm7200A) lowering the power consumption.
Possible scenarios
Scenario 1, 384MB memory 128MB segmented for video but not addressable by OS, plus the remaining 256MB which is fully addressable
Scenario 2 256MB=Video memory + RAM,
Either way I am opening it up,
The beginning of this year I repaired my Touch Cruise by reflowing the
MSM7200 cpu to fix my radio and bluetooth problem,
cpu,
