I have just ordered Virgin broadband for the first time I shall get real internet rather than just modem dial up speeds For £12.50 I shall get unlimited downloads & browsing, free wireless router, free installation & 10meg speeds but 10meg is ok for me it's still 1,0000 times better than "mobile broadband" They should stop calling it that

I think thats the virgin media plan were on, it's megabits not megabytes , 10mbits = 1.1megabytes, it's plenty fast enough for browsing and downloading and you should actually get the advertised speed, with a healthly torrent i can get max speed 1.1 -1.4 megabytes normally.

I do not do that much downloading anyway but does anyone know what or if there is a fair use policy with Virgin unlimited broadband. I cannot find it anywhere even on their site

There fair use thing seems to be 2gb a day and if you over use your speed is capped at 2megabits for the rest of the day until 11-12pm

Also the advantage of mobile broadband is no 6pm slowdown, with virgin media there is the 6pm slow down where everything slows right down for a couple of hours right now i have 300kbits down and 120kbits down, by around 8pm it speeds back up again.

Oh yes you do have slow down with mobile broadband. Whilst 3UK is generally reliable & I never get any network downtime ever it does slow late evening around 7pm to23pm
