@amby: premium yahoo is a paid service that includes POP access. It also seems that there are a few countries where the free yahoo email account has POP access

And for the brym-ful Nokia 9500-bashers and sceptics, I am happy to inform you that Opera mini works excellently on the 9500. I could not figure out the interface at first, but I ran into some guys who had been using it, and the rest is history. I'm posting this with da mini. Not that I need it, but hey, its fun having it there. Eat your heart out, brym!

How's the speed when compared to MTN?

its a lot faster than mtn. you enjoy it better when you're viewing two or more pages, so while reading one, the other loads. that way there is no down time. and the speed is constant peak or no peak period. my mtn sim is grounded.
I encountered a k750i yesterday, wow that is a phone!

@AYA:Why drag me from the sidelines because of a blokia? I have never really doubted the 9500 capabilities and I guessed righ;t it needed some 'tweaking' for opera mini to work.
I have very techy question for you though ; how do I eat my heart out? Pls give your GF a big birthday hug for me!!

@brym: No; it didn't need tweaking. I just could not locate the menu! Can you imagine. And there are people who really do think I am a genius As for how to eat your heart out, I leave you to your own imagination and devices ??

that's right mikky, MTN gprs has no limitations but could be hazardous to your pocket. while you have to tweak Vmobile to get it working, it's fast & i'm rest assured they'll never touch my credit, just like glo didn't during their time. MTN guys will never refund the money they stole from you so forget the the cc guy, i can assure you he's just running his mouth..

Ok. Limitations of vmobile WAP GPRS for web:
1. limited file transfers: I haven't been able to download very large files. It simply breaks.

2. So far, mail clients do not work

3. Login to mission critical websites not working. For example, I tried logging in to my website control panel to upload a page and it says "..it cannot be accessed", though the server is up and working faultlessly

4. My anti-virus not being able to connect and update database

Interesting Points:
Login to some secure sites work e.g. FlashMe Cash

@mikkyroy: Yes, Opera mini supports js

Has anyone been able to use Opera browser vmobile gprs? MSIE sucks.

@Aya: Thanks for the expose on Yahoo. If I decide to get the paid version of yahoo services, would I still be able to keep my existing email address, and be able to retreive mails sent to that address using my phone's email client? or should I rather get one of those free pop3 email addresses. How does this differ from gmail?

@Aya: Nokia last week announced the introduction of the 9300i, but sadly it comes without a camera. My wait has indeed been futile. I guess I may have to opt for the P910i afterall, but after seeing the K750i yesterday, I'm tempted to change my mind.
@All: Your comments on this will be appreciated P910i Vs K750i which do I buy? Your reasons please.

@amby: Yes; you will be able to keep your existing address and use all POP features e.g. use with email client etc??Opera works for me with vmobile GPRS, as does IE. For Opera, just click Tools -> Networrk -> Proxy -> Put in the vmobile IP and port 8080.

The 9300i is what AYA actual wanted a year back...all features of 9500 without the camera.
P910 vs K750? Really can't help you here because the phones run on different platforms;you should know by now if you what you desire is a smartphone or not. The Nokia's wide variety should address your problem or check out HTC's variety of Windows Mobile smartphones.

@brym: Dont pay amby any bit of attention. He is smart enough to be able to tell what he needs - a smartphone or a camera phone.

@amby, i have both phones & would be ready to help with any questions you have.. what i like about k750 is the portable size, fantastic 2.0MP camera, powerful flash light, nice animated themes, RDS radio, USB cable with amazing data transfer speed also useful as a flash drive, good media player/speakers.p910i whoops k750 in touch screen with handwriting recognition, large screen & being a symbian.
