Well, this time they don't seem to make it even as late as May.
And btw, launching a device in February and shipping it in May is a horrible strategy.
this is a special year. can't really hold companies accountable for delaying releases given the current world situation. yea, some companies have been able to announce and release devices, but that just means they were buying up supplies way ahead of time. still doesn't mean they will be shipping everything on time since shipping around the world is effected.
sony has always announced in february and shipped in may. this is nothing new. we have been complaining about it since forever and we have since learned this is partly due to the fact that they do not start production until after it's announced to prevent leaks.

Something interesting.
You see PRE-REGISTER ONLY.
But if you refresh the page you see $331,24 for 10 ii and $1490,65 for 1 ii .....
Then it quickly goes back again to PRE-REGISTER ONLY.

Some videos showcasing the new Photography Pro app on Xperia 1 II.
I think this is ToF sensor autofocus in the dark:

"Potential problem" : Ricciolo posted Huawei, Samsung and Apple in 2021 will use BOE screen because price. I do not one their screen on Sony. I'd rather have LG.

My mistake. IMX557 have 1.8 μm according to Sony. So it should be 1/1.76" , same as Galaxy S20&S20+.

Device info HW app shows 1.90 μm pixel pitch, it should be wrong.

So, the imx557 with 1/1.7 has ISO3200.
My imx220 with 1/2.3 has 12800.
😒
3200 ismtoo low to shoot sky at night. |

The "zoom " is actually 13MP advertised by all as 12.
It recognizes as 20.

IMX557's readout speed is almost same as Motion Eye(DRAM stacked sensor) one.
I think IMX557 is identical with IMX555, plus faster readout speed for ultra-fast AF/AE
that's how IP&S management team bring alpha's AF/AE to Xperia |

How does it benefit the phone?
BTW from the photographer pro software the zoom reaches up to 200mm. Hope its not gimmick digital zoom but actual usable quality photos. Does anybody know have photography came up with this improvement? |

I suspect this 557 is faster than 400/445.
For example 555 can do real 960fps without dram. Because of the analog to digital conversion.
According to what I understood:
16mm fixed lens. With digital zoom you can select 20mm equivalent.
When you select 24mm, it switches to main camera.
You can use 24mm or apply digital zoom for 28mm, 35mm and 50mm.
When you select 70 mm, it switches to "tele" camera.
You can shoot at 70mm or apply digital zoom to have 85, 100, 125 and 200mm equivalent.
According to my math, at 200mm your photo will have quality of a 1,47MP.
2x digital zoom = 1/4 resolution
3x digital zoom = 1/9 resolution.
For example, the 64MP of s20 at 84mm will be 7MP quality.

Same AF/AE capability as alpha camera (20fps AF/AE , 60times per sec calculation) |

Million dollar question is: can you make Photo Pro your default app when you hold down on shutter button? |
