A good example of GUCCI's point would be the Asia Pacific, where an iPhone runs free for USD 1,000. |

I'm not talking about the iPhone, I'm talking about Android. It's more modern than S60 and much closer to the iPhone-battling ideal of a smartphone UI in 2009. The G1 has done nothing for it so far, but with the HTC Magic, Hero, and now the Raphael waiting in the wings, I think you're going to see a lot more interest in it - and with interest comes apps, and with apps comes more customers, more interest, more development, and suddenly you have that critical mass which Apple hit a while back, and Symbian have failed to generate for the last ten years.
Since Android can be licensed for free by anyone, you'll see plenty of cheap Android phones wherever you are in the world before long.
The only way Symbian will continue alongside a successful Android is through the sheer stubborness of Nokia. SE don't have the same loyalties.

I hope you're right, because currently both the HTC Dream and Magic are ridiculously expensive where i am, the 5800xm is under half their prices right now.

Engadget (and the Guardian) are reporting that even Nokia are working on an Android handset. I really think Symbian's at the end of it's days now, I think SE would do well to just drop it.
Although releasing Satio may be important for SE's bottom line right now, it's not got much of a longterm future IMHO.

I would wait and buy Rachel (is that it's code name?) anyway the Android handset from SE, I think lots of other people will too as it's something new and fresh with Android, I really like the Satio, even though I got an iPhone now, but even I would not buy it and get the Android handset instead as IMO Android is gonna flood the market in a couple of years, I think it will threaten feature phones even cause it'll be so cheap. |

“With Satio you can enjoy any form of entertainment anytime, anywhere. Whether its music or movies you will never be more than a tap away from your favourite tracks or shows,” said Fredrik Mansson, Market Business Manager at Sony Ericsson. “Just tap directly into your favourite videos and music with the unique full touch media menu, standby panels and music player. Snapping perfect pictures also just got so simple thanks to the 12.1 megapixel camera, intuitive touch focus and Xenon flash. Share them with your nearest and dearest via your social networking site, produce huge prints and you can even comment directly on your images.”

I dont know how many are developing for Ngage, but considering that there are now well over +30 Ngage2 games and still counting its still looking pretty good IMO, and then theres also the Quake port games and some others that require graphics acceleration,im sure Satio will be well supported, theres still some very dedicated Symbian Freaks out there.

Its not the first time he's said something like that and been proved wrong later on, so I don't take any notice of him anymore. I'd rather wait until the final, commercial version appears and wait and see.

Well that just sucks for NOKIA and the Ngage team, personaly ive enjoyed it,being able to play System Rush and some other games online against other players was a lota fun, great concept by NOKIA, poorly implemented though just like their early versions of Appstores (Download! and MOSH) even before the iPhone was around. If Apple came up with something like Ngage it would do well since they seem to be able to implement things correctly. Anyway if Ngage does die il be one of the few who will miss it.
