here's a bit of dissapointment...

I was just setting up my DS970 headset connection to the TyTN and I was planning to chill with a beer on the train while watchig videos using TCPMP while listening to the sound through the DS970

Unfortunately the video stutters when sound is sent to the BT headset and resumes normal playback when I disconnect the headset!

not good

@masseur

interesting, I was using my SPV to watch a video yesterday that the M600 plays very smoothly. The BBC mobile site has news as a video downloads and the M600 and P990 can play the high quality video format with ease but the SPV can't play these videos smoothly; the SPV probably does not have graphics acceleration and relies on the main CPU.

Well mate, have a good beer anyway - I'll have a coke as I don't drink

its probably my encoding thats giving TCPMP too much to do or something... I'll have aplay with encoding when I get a chance

TCPMP has lots of options too so I'll play with those

I've never used windows media player on WM devices for watching videos, only for playing music, but I notice that even with the standard video supplied on the TyTN it doesn't send sound to the headset. Music works fine though

hmmmm..

What I like about the TyTN compared to my previous WM devices is that there is a numeric keyboard on the TyTN. In phone mode just open the hardware keybord and use the numbers!

I have found Video playing on the TCPMP with the TyTN not good as well. When you first install the programme and all the plug ins (the latest version) the device can not even play any video...or rather it does but very badly (choppy)

If you manage to go into the video settings and you change them from ATI Imageon to GDI then the video play back becomes smoother.

In any case i found hat the player performed much better with the K-jam..

My device works ok with the DS970's but the sound reproducction is not as top notch as with the P990.

sounds like my suggestion of encoding, or something to do with the way I made my videos is about right

perhaps you can tell me what you use to make the videos and what screen size and what bits rates you use?

the videos are perfect right up until I turn on the BT streaming

@masseur

I have a mixed bag of Videos that tend to transfer from phone to phone plus any new ones I get...
So far I find that 3GP videos play very well.
DiVX Videos seem to be the worst (made them in the past using the Flask mpeg programme with xdiv codec).

I will start playing around again with encoding to see waht is best for the player and TyTN.

It is worth noting that the very same videos all played extremely well on the K-Jam..

yeah, I've been using the same videos since my ipaq 5450, then 4150, the 4700, then JAM, then K-JAM and now the TyTN

I didn't have BT streaming on any of those earlier machines though, of course and so by comparison the TyTN still plays the videos just the same when I'm not trying to stream to sound, so I can't complain (too much!)

Ive been playing with TCPMP and have obviously ran into the same problems as all TyTN users have, the ATI drivers do not work correctly i simply set video to rawframebuffer and ive been playing avis ive encoded using auto gordion knot to do some dvds. Playback is simply STUNNING on it, this version of TCPMP does have problems but when ive set it to these settings it works awesomely.

My videos have been encoded with XVid (2 passes), using MP3 audio. Great quality of vids and audioi/video is sync'd perfectly. I used a trial version of PocketDVD and just is poor in comparison to the autoGK method (see www.doom9.org and see the Mpeg4 encoding methods using auto gordion knot.

yeah, I figured the video setting right away but I do use pocketDVD studio to do my videos so perhaps I should look at your suggestion

have you actually tried playing videos while streaming the audio? thats my real problem as the videos do play great when I'm using the speaker or a wired headset

Yeah I had the same problem with my Tytn. As I said before, I think the Tytn is a better business device, but can't match Symbian on Multimedia functions. This is of course after playing with the M600, Tytn, and the P990. The camera in the Tytn just isn't as good as the P990. Did anyone also notice that when BT stereo headset is connected, the Tytn just slows to a crawl and crashes at times? That was my experience anyways. As long as you didn't touch the device while playing music it worked ok.

Also, I had something weird happen on my Tytn. The WM player did not see any of my music files on the memory card after using it for sometime. At first all was ok, but after awhile they disappeared. I could not play music through WM player. I had to go into the file manager to play music which was not a solution. Weird because the files were definitely there, but WM player just didn't recognize them. I had to use Mortplayer as the MP3 player, but I did miss the album art.
