I've heard from SONY's sales representative that the design will be better on next year's model but not sure how it will be. Also several staff mention that OIS is coming soon which I doubt as they said so many time before...
Interesting info but does this also confirm the upcoming xperia so-called xz3 or xz2s design is the same or very similar to XZ2 series? |

Yes I think it would be the same design... Can't change the design within just half year...

X and XZ are very different, just 6 months between.

I think the implication is that if Sony wanted to go in a new design direction after the XZ2 launch, there isn't enough time for that to happen before the XZ3 comes around. That devices design would have already been decided.
Now if the XZ3 was always meant to be a big departure from the XZ2 then we should see something unique at IFA. If it was just meant to be an XZ2 with the XZ2P camera slapped on the back then that's what we'll wind up getting. |

Pretty sure it's fake - omnibalance design, different sizes of rear cameras, plus who uses 112gb of storage...?

This is an interesting patent.
Sony patents rarely appear in the news. |

Yeah. Did you all see this animation when you forgot to turn the alarm on, at around 10 or so hours before the supposed alarm ringing. It looks great.
It starts displaying the clock and alarm icon, then there's an animation like the one in that AnySurface Video we've seen on Sony's website, but more calm and subtle, unlike the aggressive animation on the Sony's website.
Or was it just me who've recognised it just yet?
-----------------
I think with this new UI, Sony phones in the future will not be similar to Vanilla Android anymore, just because of that AnySurface UI. I hope the UI will look very good, without compromising speed and lightness of today's UI.
Please blow our minds, Sony!

It was from stock Oreo. It is one of the parts of AnySurface UI elements. That kind of animation also comes when the battery is below 15%, failed fingerprint enrolling attempt, and maybe something else that I don't get to see it yet.

Dont seem different from xz2.
I have seem many shots of xz2, often slower shutter compared to XZ1.
Many samples have overexposed sky because of 1/50s, 1/100s ..
It should be 1/800s, 1/1200s or faster. |

I think my XZ2 can pull that same kind of colour and close detail levels in those conditions. Too early to judge, though. It's a pre-production unit.
I'm not saying that is bad. Actually, I think those shots look stunning.

Off topic, but I think Oppo will use the "slide the phone to activate front camera" mechanism for Find X, just like a similar idea that I've proposed about a week ago.
