use Kulan kendi instead of da vinci.....
The issue with DAVINCI is you won't get specific files, But with KK you will get the files that you specifically want.

(for you who never have reflash...some tips that you must know):

first of all, you need to check if you have a "usb flash driver" installed on your PC. (if you have SEUS installed on your PC, you have the usbflash driver installed allready, so best way is to just run SEUS one time...thats it.

1.
run KK client...you find it here: (you have to buy one firmware with paypal)
http://www.kulankendi.com/_ftp_guar/KK_Client/KKClient.exe

2.
press "download files...choose "central europe R1AAXXX...."(English laguage)....looks something like this but with c905 fw.
http://img509.imageshack.us/my.php?image=98284048jk9.jpg

3.
tick "main and FS" your files is now on your PC (desktop)...then go back to the client and choose "open file for Main" and Open file for FS"
http://img521.imageshack.us/my.php?image=34223967bf3.jpg

4.
tick "Finalization"...then press "flash phone"

5.
just after you have press "flash phone"...pick out your battery...put it back...hold C....insert your usb-cable...then...voila....updating starts

done

Yes, run the client.
It will tell you to switch off phone. Remove and replace battery...DON'T SWITCH PHONE ON...hold the C key and plug in cable.
It will then tell you to release the C key...and the client will start recognising your phone.
A box will pop up asking what you want to do. Choose Update Firmware....
It will then pop up a whole list of available firmwares. Tick the box marked Generic and the list will be cut down to only generic (Davinci call them Customised) firmwares. Leave all the other boxes as they are. Go down the list and choose the second from the bottom.
Click go...and wait.....as I said takes about 5 mins.

I should also say you must have already installed SE PC suite and make sure it connects to your phone. PC Suite also installs the drivers that the Davinci client needs.
You don't need to have PC Suite running when you use Davinci client .

And thanks plankgatan: I hadn't heard of that client. I'll give it a go next time.

and the answer on question 'why R1AA?' is... ?

EDIT: it's quite obvious that retail version of R1AA doesn't exist, or maybe phones with BROWN certificate are from now retail?

-WiFi: here I hope to be proven wrong. It is probably the most useful addition to the photographic abilities fo the 850 and 902 - if it only worked. I haven't been able to set it up yet - but it may be just me (and I'm only a reasonably dumb engineer with 20 years of networking experience). Please, Sony Ericsson (or dear forum members) - prove that I'm an idiot and show me, step-by-step (as in WiFi for Dummies) how to connect to my wireless router at home or at the office (before I try those pay-by-the-hour hotspots in Starbucks and at foreign airports).

Well mine is working fine. I have tested it on 2 wireless setup.
1: Turn on wifi, it will now search for availible wifi networks
2: Choose your Wifi network, it will connect and writing that you need to enter a key to logon(If there is a key)
3: Enter the key and logon.

My network is WEP/WPA secured and its working fine, but the phones range isnt very good

Have you already installed PC Suite and drivers and Pc Sjuite connects to phone?

If you have...try just leaving the phone plugged into the computer... sometimes it can take quite a few minutes for it to connect properly...well it can for me on Vista!

When you plug phone in...client should say "release C key"...and should then spring into action. Did you take the battery put and put it back in before you held the C and plugged phone in?

This phone looks the shiz! Perfect timing for me as well with my contact coming to an end. Managed to negotiate a deal with Orange today where I pay £130 for the phone but will get the same amount back in credit so the phone is effectively free.

One quicky about the GPS. How much data usage will it use, if any? Or is it only run by locking to a satellite? Just curious as it may come in handy for moi and if it uses a lot of data may be well negotiating a package. I bet my question has already been answered however 307 pages would take some time to read.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

That's a good deal for the phone. I paid £120 for it on a Voda upgrade with no credit back!
Using GPS does use data...it uses it to help logging onto satellites (Assisted GPS)...although you can switch that off...but it also uses it to download the maps as you move around. So a data bundle is essential.
We've all been trying to find a good mapping prog that will use maps already installed on the memory card. Apparently Garmin do one for the C905...but it's not listed on their website.

Good to hear he got a brand new one. Nothing about replacement was mentioned in the original post on the slide mechanism problem, which makes it a one-sided story (negative only). Makes it sound like ALL c905-s are faulty in the slide area.

You didn't mention if your friend's second, brand new phone had the same problem. Did it?

An un-biased, neutral report of the occurance would state the (horrible) fact of a new phone having a nasty problem, BUT would also state the positive side, something like "The nice people at Carphone Warehouse/Vodafone/wherever offered an immediate replacement. The replacement phone is OK and doesn't show the same defect."

Omitting half of the truth while emphasising "He's only had it a week and already broken" makes the poster a (very) biased source. It's not paranoid to assume possible intent (to damage the reputation of Sony Ericsson), although I wrote that (the viral campaign bit) with my tongue in my cheek, if anyone noticed

How about the other 495 pages of my post? Have you got an opinion on any of the points I make there?
