I just ordered mine from Mobile Planet -- they have 32 in stock here in the US, but none for Expansys in the UK. I paid the extra for overnight, so I should get it tomorrow sometime! This is very exciting.
Quick question to owners out there: does the P990 come with a temporary plastic film over the screen like the P910 and other SE phones do? Because my screen protector won't be here until probably Monday.
Thanks!

Who is your phone provider? I'm thinking getting one too from Mobile Planet. I have TMO as my provider. How would you configurate the phone setting? (MMS, WAP, GPRS). Currently I have K750i and I did the TMO Configuration OTA from their site in order to configure my K750i.
Thanks. |

to configue P990i for TMO use in the US:
1) go to SE UK site
2) go to m600i page
3) go to support
4) go to auto-configuration
you will be able to pick USA and T-Mobile from the configurations. m600 and p990 have the same configurations. Don't remember if the p990 auto-configure site is up yet, but either way, it's the same thing. hope this helps. |

@ Gcane93 -- My provider is also T-Mobile. I currently have the P910i, which I also bought unlocked from Expansys. Set up was easy with the SonyEricsson online configuration. That isn't up yet for the P990, but you can also just ask T-Mobile for the settings. It doesn't look like my phone is going to ship today, so hopefully I'll get it next week. If you get yours and need any help with the configuration, you can PM me and I'll try to help you out. It should have the same settings as your K750 and my P910. |

@paulos
when I spoke to foneplanet on Monday they said that they would have stocks on Wednesday (today). I bought my P990 from www.foneshop.com as did about 3/4 other members here

Someone may prove me wrong but I'm fairly sure it does not support them - I rechecked the whitepaper. MP4, 3GP and RM (Realmedia) are supported.

Assuming same system as m600, no it does not. |

Got my P990 today from Expansys and it crashes every 5 minutes. The only way I can get it to restart is to reinstall the firmware via SEUS. What a disappointment:-( |

OK US CREATONS! THis info is for you. So please READ!
Now for SE to release the P990"A" it MUST be tested & APPROVED by the FCC ... which hasnt happened yet UNLESS we all missed it when the P990i was tested. If we DO see a P990a I'm pretty sure it'll have EDGE but NO N.A. UMTS.

Is this different from what you're talking about?

NP.
Perhaps I should've been more clear. For a phone manufacturer to produce & ship a phone - it must meet stringent tests. If the phone is going to have ANY GSM bands used in North & South America - 850/1900Mhz GSM/GPRS/EDGE then if MUST be approved by the US' FCC organization. That said, the current P990i is allowed to be shipped & used on ANY N/S American provider. This also applies if it has 850/1900Mhz UMTS for North/South (N/S) America as well.
Now, as for the Rumored, yet not official P990a we'll still have to wait and see. Just a new testing for 850Mhz GSM/GPRS/EDGE radio module will be simple enough. However, for UMTS to be in the 850/1900Mhz design may require a completely new chipset and will undergo a serious stringent testing by the FCC (Canada also has their organization but the name slips my mind). For all we all know the P990a may already be tested, but until its approved SE could delay its official announcement all they want.
> in the mean time I think I'm gonna pickup an SE w810 (in white preferably).
btw,
hi-mobile.net ships all their phones from Hong Kong and usually arrives in 2 business days. I've done business with them before and was impressed. I got screwed by FedEx as their tried to charge me for expedited shipping fo rmy previous K750i; but it was already covered by Hi-Mobile.net.
