My insurance finaly phoned yesterday, telling me that my claim has been processed and i can get my new phone, so they offered me a sony v600i which they say got the same features, and i told her she better get me a v800 coz the v600 does not have a memory stick. Also told me that according to their supplier for phones the v800 has been discontinued. . . How true is that?

Thanx for the info, Brix. Rhino, even if they say it's discontinued, they certainly can find one somewhere. Don't take no for an answer, boet

@Rhino8: Have to agree with Kryptik that your service provider probably have the V800 in stock but they want to flog you an inferior model...someone old lady not knowing anything about tech might fall for it but you definitely shouldn't.

I experienced my first frustration with the P910 when tried to add a contact this morning...it's like rocket science.

Check this....

I get a missed call, I want to save said call to my phone book but the phone gives me a myriad of options except for "save number"...After five minutes of tapping away on the screen like a crack addict looking for his next hit, I finally find the "add new contact" item hidden deep inside the sub-menus of the phone book which is as complicated as nuclear fusion.

Otherwise I'm still enjoying it but looking forward to the return of my K700i which it seems will only happen in the New Year considering the holiday season.

@ brix,
On the P900,if I have a missed call and want to save the number, all I have to do is (flip open):
1.go to the call list,
2.tap on the number I want to save and then I have 2 icons on the top left, namely Phone and Edit.
3.I select 'Phone' and then 'Add to contacts'.

Still not as quick as the 'options' menus on Nokias et al,but there you go...

One thing that does infuriate me is the P900's inability to export all my numbers saved on the phone to the sim card.

@da wanqsta: In my case the add contact "button" was shaded which means I can't use it.

Okay this is what i will do, my mom is getting a new v600 on contract, and i am getting a replacement v800 from insurance, so now i will use my moms v600 for a while and see how i like it. If i like the phone my mom agreed to pay me 800 bucks for the v800 in exchange for v600. Problem i have with v800 is the size. Its really big

Yep, the old firmware probably needs updating, although the question is whether the newer fw's available here yet.
I'm not superstitious, merely mildly stitious.

O2 have just dropped the price of the w550i after recently making it available in their PAYG inventory.
It can now be had for £149.99. (approx R1680, using this afternoon's exchange rate.)

Finally got my precious back after it was send to the Big Smoke for repairs. The fw was upgraded(that's what they say on the receipt). Browsing through the menus is smooth and I haven't experienced any problems with the phone rebooting by itself. Also the games play much better.
Will check the firmware version tomorrow

Would this be a Xmas special or do you think that the price may drop even further in the next week or so before Xmas?

Seems like we're online all at once. Nice price on the W550. No clue on when it's being launched in emzansi...it's too late for Christmas.
