Sounds like the W900 with better video capabilities to me. Axxxr, seems you were right all those weeks ago And the phone shown in the pic seems to have calling keys (if you zoom up very close) and I reckon this could be a very good hint of the design.
UPDATE:
- W52S may have DMB removed to be placed in separate phone, but will be still be released by June/July.
- W900 re-release codenamed Adriana. Increased video recording capabilities and interface for recording videos. Swivel design, comes in white/black and orange. At least 3G and 2.4"+ screen.

I don't know why they can't fit a phone like Adriana with a WQVGA screen as mobile TV interests seem to be coming together this year and will probably make an appearance in 2008. Greater capacity and wider screens are best for video-centric mobiles.

there's not enough production capacity for those 3"/2.9" 16:9 screens they make themselves. almost all new domestic japanese SE phones will use that, they also have orders from a coupla japanese companies (casio-hitachi being one of them; trying hard)
SE europe is lining up behind at least 1 other japanese company trying to source the same screen
until they have figured out a way to increase production dramatically, we won't see them outside Japan.
the first wide screen phone outside Japan might as well come from Sharp...... or Nokia. Don't think Samsung can be that fast though, looking at their domestic line-up, they're snappy happy with their DMB and smartphones

Aaah yes........ thanks for showing them!! Do you see that the keypad is totally spread out over the lower swifel part. If you look on the Adriana photoshop you can see that the keypad is finished already halfway up.
@ Peter Kay, so now it's just sitting and waiting for official announcements.......... |

Seems a bit silly just restricting the screens to a market of some 90 million people: are they that frightened of falling behind? I'm surprised they don't outsource the manufacturing of the screens to a Chinese or Taiwanese firm.
Anyway, looking at my P990i, the screen on that would be good for TV viewing.

'the reason why swivel comes back to the picture is that the team had a breakthrough to make them really really thin...'
...the actual swivel mech in S700/W900 isn't THAT thick anyways, they just need to '880-ise' the other components(W880 is ALMOST IDENTICAL measurements to W900 front panel already)..........
'SE europe is lining up behind at least 1 other japanese company trying to source the same screen'
.... ??!? (need a Manga teardrop for this really) You mean Japan wont give Europe any priority over 3rd parties??? What a bunch of [censored]! What did Europe do wrong(Is this also why we didn't get SO903i)???

Hmmmmmmm............ I have a very strong feeling that this image is a Photoshop. If you zoom closely you'll see that on the left picture the screen isn't centered and the number keys are too far on the swifel part. Has SE ever showed their swifel phones like that, 1/4th open? Als the part with the finger isn't real... the hand isn't actually holding the phone. (And it's too simple, just a square with a gradient over it) But still it might resemble the final phone very much and I really love the looks of it! If this is will be what the real phone looks like, many people will be very very happy.
I agree. The screen is off centre but its not just the screen, everything on the front of the phone seems to be too much to the right, the two round buttons on the right seem closer together than the ones on left. The lighting on the soft keys looks wrong and none of the buttons have logos on them. Looks very good though and hope it is real or based on something real. |

sounds rediculous eh, that's how protective they are
they consider SE Japan a very different company from SE-"world" lol
it's not SE who made the screen, but one of the screen subsidiaries of Sony Group, so they can make separate decisions (diseconomies of scale in a sense)
looking back at the photo today, is asymmetry america's next top "model"?

@xumdeo
Is that a cryptic clue? Is there an imminent high-end US announcement?
