Mtech is the internet service provider for MTN (and it works just as well on Vmobile, as I suspect it will on Mtel. It doesn't work on Glo though). Here are d details. Again, depending on your handset, you may need to know exactly where and how to input them (Sony Ericsson & Siemens are d more complicated phones to setup).
Profile Name: Mtech
username: mtech
Password: mlife
IP/Gateway: 192.168.77.153
Port: 9210
Dialup number: 08039002000
Data type: analogue
Data speed: 9.6kbps
Connection: connectionless
Home: http://web.mlifeng.com (or use my wapsite http://wappy.to/yomi )
If your handset has an email client, you can also access your mails using Discomm's dialup service as follows:
Provider's name: DISC
username: test
password: test
dialup number: 013459000
I use both regularly and they work pretty well. Happy browsing! Mtech's service works on all MTN packages (I have used it on both PAYGo and BusinessTime). Coverage: Everywhere your network (MTN or Vmobile) has a signal.

You will be billed for each page you open. Fortunately, WAP pages are very small in size. You will also be billed depending on how large your posts are , because when you post you are transferring data. You are also billed for downloading images, audio, video, games etc etc.
One way to cut down your browsing bill by up to 50% is to disable images in your browser settings, so images dont load on the WAP pages you visit.
If you use a smartphone like I do, resist the temptation to visit regular webpages (their sizes run from say 18kb to as large as 100kb at times), because you'll run bills like crazy.
Our esato frolics should not suffer from the billing. An average large page load is about 1.7kb i.e. N1.19. An average of 5 page visits and 5 posts per day will run you only between N11.90 & N20. Not bad

@angelgirl: It works with all brands of WAP phones, including Samsung.
@bennie. Oops! I checked & MTN says WAP is functional only in Lagos.
@dawny. Have never tried it on Mtel, but Mtel's network has what it takes, so I see no reason why it should not. Give it a try.

I've configured my phn but i don't think i will ever use d dial up connection. I remember 1 time that i tried 2 connect wit mtn,all my crdt just went. But i hear you can only stream vidz and music via dial up(csd). It doesn't work wit glo gprs. Is there a way 2 use yahoo or msn messenger via glo gprs?

To use MSN/Yahoo messengers or other Internet utilities like AvantGo, opera on your phone via GPRS, you need to have a GPRS Internet account setup for you. What you have now is a GPRS WAP account, so it wont work. To get a GPRS Internet account on Glo, u need to subscribe to their contract package

Hi Demmy,I share your views about Nigerians having a meeting point.Nigerians are good and honest people despite what our distractors may want to believe. The few bad eggs that are not up to 1/2% of Nigerians shouldn't be used to judge us.From Ihejirika

@bennie. I have not been so regular these past few days 'cause my P800 went in for some upgrade work, so I have been posting only during office hours (plus via MTN CSD). My phone should be back today ...and I'll be back full-time
