I am actually a big fan of Xperia 1 auto mode in the dark. I does an excellent job at keeping the ambience of dark while making most parts look sharp and without noise. You need to give it some time to focus and hold it steady while taking the shot, but the result is usually really good and true to the actual scene.

In a recent interview with Mitsuya Kishida it was stated that Sony would not do "fake AI" shots. Their main priority is to ensure that focus is fast and consistent even in the dark (using ToF).

What kind of policy does Sony develop products for such "multi-viewing"?

Kishida: I thought that people who purchased Xperia would not be satisfied if the axis was not decided, so I went back to the starting point and rebuilt it. I think we all came.

Sony's camera is honest, and the pictures are not "artifacts", and they aren't so much a lie. This time, I came to say "Three eyes + ToF", but I think that even if you look at how to use ToF, you may understand our intention.

Do not forget that AS mostly chooses LANDSCAPE, even when HDR is required.
You can do like gsmarena does. They put on manual, turn on hdr and leave the rest auto. It is like auto hdr ...

I've noticed that for Xperia 1 it's not true. For some reason, in Auto mode the noise reduction is noticeably better than in manual auto with HDR. That's not to say that manual mode is useless, but this my observation from nonetheless.

Website says it can use the UCH32C charger.
But this one is 18W.
So, how can the phone be 21?

If the one in the box is 21W, pointless to mention compatibility with a slower one.

I've seen them mentioning just a PD charger.

New motorola will be €1200?
Sony has the chance if put it no more than 1100.

It has 21W PD. I mean that I haven't seen them mentioning UCH32 for Xperia 1ii.

Motorola? Who cares? I think Sony have missed the train already.

I think the #1 is also joining the quarentine.
Not sure if it wants to come out to play any soon.

1, 5 and 1 ii do not mention Triluminos.
Is ot because the Creator Mode? Because XZ3 and 10 ii pages say they have it.

To be honest, for the first time it feels like Sony's conduct is shameful.

They lied about Xperia 1ii and 10ii being released in Q1 and by not releasing any new information regarding release dates they make it even worse.

Not to mention that Xperia 1ii had evoked much more public interest than before, but unfortunately they missed this train by now. I wonder how are the 2020 Q1 sales...

Not sure if anything is shameful in this challenging time and when people are busy looking after their families. It's just a phone! Usually Sony's phones are out in May, in the UK so...

Other companies do manage to start selling their devices and at a much bigger volume than Sony.

But that's not the point. Sony did say Q1 and as far as I recall they also used the word 'soon'. Now let's suppose that Sony had indeed planned to release much faster, but due to the Coronavirus things got delayed, even if somehow this didn't cause a delay for others. I think Sony should have released some official statements.

They said spring not Q1. sony phones have always been out in may in the UK (where i usually import my phone from). Pre-orders usually start in the next week or two with mid to late may delivery. but with how things are going, it is difficult to ask or demand for more.

Well, this time they don't seem to make it even as late as May.

And btw, launching a device in February and shipping it in May is a horrible strategy.

From Buks:

" The reform is completed and the offensive begins. Kyoda Kishida, President of Sony Mobile, recently accepted an online interview with AV.WATCH to discuss the current situation of Sony's mobile phone business.

· Xperia 1 II (mark 2) followed by III (mark 3), the most important thing is not to lose the core of Sony features.

This year Sony released the Xperia 1 II and Xperia 10 II. It is difficult to name such a way that it is not so reminiscent of Sony's professional camera naming. This is a naming method that Sony phones have never had before. For Sony Mobile, 2018-2019 is a year of great changes in its organizational structure, R & D team, design ideas, component procurement, production locations and sales methods.
Until 2019, Sony's mobile phone business has been focusing on overseas sales and is independent of other Sony businesses. Now, the sales, R & D and design of Sony's mobile phone business and other businesses of Sony Electronics have been fully integrated and expanded at the Japanese headquarters To the world; the production location was transferred from the Chinese factory to Thailand, and Sony ’s mobile phone business was fully integrated with the Sony Group within two years.

In a sense, Xperia 1, Xperia 5 and Xperia 1 II can be said to be Sony Mobile's "last stage of reform" products. Consumers can see on these two products that Sony Mobile is trying to complete a smooth architectural transformation. Sony Of mobile phone products are also striving to enhance product strength, and gradually began to turn into a defense.

With the passage of time, the charm of some functions may weaken, and through the evolution from Xperia 1 to Xperia 1 II, Kishida said that no matter what, on Xperia, Sony ’s uniqueness will not be lost, and their core functions will be It is continuously inherited and developed. Since the R & D time to market of the product is basically fixed, even if some of the functions being developed may not be seen on Xperia 1 and Xperia 1 II, but perhaps in the future Xperia 1 III and even Xperia 1 IV, Sony will continue to bring Surprise."

Bonus: on another post he says things in Thailand are complicated because of the disease. Factory is there.
