Arc vs TX design opinion from an owner of both

I don't think 'perfect' is an achievable goal but if there as such a design for me it would fall pretty much between the Arc and TX. After a few days of using TX I don't think 4.3" inches would do me. Conversely, the width of Arc is easier to hold. The front of Arc is definitely more beautiful than TX but the back side of TX is much better than Arc's. In the hand, TX feels thinner, but they're actually the same (if you exclude Arc's buttons). Build is better on TX, button positioning is better on TX. It really doesn't take much getting used to the power button on the top left. TX is a highly recommendable upgrade to Arc, I think V would be a better replacement.

I can see what SE (Sony Mobile didn't design this phone) have tried to do when they designed TX, they tried to address all the negatives of Arc, mainly the high gloss finish felt cheap, the button coating chipped off after a few months usage, the tiny camera button was hard to find and the tiny power button on top meant you needed to either manoeuvre the phone in your hand or use the other hand to lock/unlock the screen. They succeeded in fixing all of these problems with TX but they had to sacrifice a few things along the way to balance the phone.

As I said at the beginning of this comparison, 'perfect' for me falls between Arc and TX. And, it falls closer to TX. I didn't think SE or Sony would ever beat the Arc design and was ready to hold on to my Arc for another year to wait for something close, but they've out done themselves.

I sincerely hope they keep the Arc/TX shape in future series or I may be in the older handset and second hand market for a few years.

Dude, what's your problem? You can check that there is a huge difference between Ion's Screen and Xperia T screen. I'm not saying that screen on XT is garbage, I'm only saying that Sony is not putting their best screen on their flagship phone, and I'm just wondering why this is happening. You have reviews saying the same as I'm saying: XT display has great resolution but colours are washed out, contrast is not great and viewing angles are sub-par.

We are talking about products that cost a lot to consumers, I'm trying to test all the pros and cons for making a judgment tighter for future buyers. I'm not interested on trolling or criticize Sony without arguments, Sony is by far my favorite brand, I'm just proving evidence.

Xperia T is a great device, very fast, with an iconic design, but the screen is very disappointing for a flagship phone. I just want to know if my screen is defective or if Sony is teasing their buyers selling to general public prototypes of their devices.

You're angry with me for no reason, If you don't like what I'm saying take a break and get a life.

Dude, what the hell is your problem here and come with pictures from older prototypes?
I have the T and the S BOTH!!! and the T looks better than screen of the S.
Your post are just freaking as Medair often posting are you some of friend of him to proof that T have a bad screen?

The screen of the T is just excellent just what the most reviewers said and only complaining about the stupid viewing angles without any arguments.

So STOP keep trolling about so called bad screen of the Xperia T.....................i have one and it's looks perfect.

I just want this confirmed, does the TX have a different display than the T? Some people (apparently present here in the thread) and reviews point out to T's poor viewing angles and somewhat washed out colors, while I see some photo comparisons of the TX's display which seems to be really good while flaunting its wide viewing angles. If someone has both devices, please do a photo comparison.

First of all i have to for the post what you have wrote.
Second, i can also take a picture from a device what i not own or from the Internet.
Third, fanboys, do you mean those stupid people send false pictures from older prototype to proof your silly point? hmm
Four, why don't reviewers mention your silly point and why i can't see the differences what you have send?

Here i give you some reviews about the terrible display what you mention.

"If you like what Sony's been offering on the Xperia S and Ion, you'll find the Xperia T performs just as well -- but bigger. At 4.6 inches, coated in scratch-resistant glass, it's designed to plug into Sony's Entertainment hub and all the content it has on offer -- if you're willing to commit to another ecosystem. It's another strong-performing screen -- no AMOLED means less color distortion and no PenTile woes. The viewing angles appear identical to the Xperia S, meaning they're pretty damn good. We'd also like to mention here that those on-screen keys give the Xperia T a far more up-to-date air than its predecessors -- Sony's catching up." BRON: http://www.engadget.com/2012/[....]h-smartphone-flagship-that-is/

"HD display
One of the main shouts for the Xperia T is the 4.6-inch LCD HD touchscreen, and after spending some time with the handset it’s easy to see why. The clarity of the images is incredible, especially when watching HD videos as everything (and we mean everything) looks so crisp and clear. Gaming is a real pleasure too, as the colourful visuals make gameplay even more exciting and enjoyable. When flicking through images in the gallery the pictures really leap out and are bright and detailed, no doubt helped along by Sony’s Mobile BRAVIA Engine tech that aids colour management, adds sharpness filters and reduces noise to make pics look better." BRON: http://www.phonesreview.co.uk[....]t-serving-up-the-goods-review/

"Sony Xperia T Screen Display

Sony incorporated a 4.6-inch screen with the Sony Xperia T at 1280 x 720 screen resolution. With the Bravia Engine technology from Sony, it is expected that video playback is going to be top-notch on the Sony Xperia T.

Watching full HD trailers on the Sony Xperia T is a great experience that allows for viewing in sharp lines, clear details and smooth playback. Movie watching is indeed a pleasing experience with the Sony Xperia T. This is despite the fact that the device only comes with 720p video display, rather than full HD. The good news is it can accommodate 1080 files.

The big screen display of the Sony Xperia T gives this device the chance to be among the likes of HTC One X and the Samsung Galaxy S III." BRON: http://www.pc-tablet.com/5438-sony-xperia-top-phone-review/

"Screen
As with most Xperia phones, Sony claims the Xperia T's standout feature is its 4.6in LCD HD touchscreen, which comes with Sony's Bravia technology. Although we weren't overwhelmed on first impressions, the display truly shone when we cranked up its brightness. Thanks to its 1280x720 resolution and 323ppi pixel density, the display is about as crisp as smartphone displays get, and we were unable to spot individual pixels.

Sony Xperia T screen

Outdoor visibility is great too, especially compared to the Iphone, again thanks to Sony's Bravia technology. However, even that couldn't save the phone's viewing angles, which proved disappointing during our hands-on testing." BRON: http://www.theinquirer.net/in[....]w/2207986/sony-xperia-t-review

"The largest Bravia screen in the business

The Sony Xperia T comes with a 4.55" LCD screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels which breaks down to a pixel density of 323 ppi. That's a respectable number and the real-life performance doesn't let you down. The Bravia-powered screen is as sharp as it gets and you'll be unable to tell individual pixels apart even if you look from up close.

Sony Xperia T
The Bravia-powered screen is pretty great

Contrast is pretty good for an LCD and colors are very vibrant. The sunlight legibility is quite good as well, as testified by the Xperia T's result in our dedicated test. Find more about the testing routine over here.
Contrast ratio

Sadly, Sony is yet to address the issue of poor viewing angles. You really need to be looking at the Xperia T head-on to experience arguably the best image quality from an LCD, as once you tilt the phone even a tiny bit, the image quality deteriorates noticeably.

We were also able to put the display under our digital microscope for a closer look at the pixels. Check it out:" BRON: http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_t-review-820p3.php

Where is any mention so-called bad display what you try to convince?

Boy, take a deep breath and stop trolling please.

@Ricky D,

After I saw the XT user guide, I noticed that there's a notification LED at the top ( to the right of the front cam ) so I wondered about the bottom Xperia logo, does it glow only while booting the phone or there's some other use for it, and does it glow only in White or it has a multi-colored LED ?

I dont understand the unnecessarily aggressive way people are dealt with in this forum that are critical in the slightest way!
The josetree just pointed out that his device had a bad screen and wondered if it was a faulty device or a general problem of the T or TX.

Guys tone down a bit, it´s about mobile phones and not religion....

I found the Xperia T on sale on eBay.com. from a US seller

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sony-[....]ell_Phones&hash=item337bb66370

It's currently pre-sale, The release date is in Mid-October. would that means it's also Xperia T US official release date?

I'm much more interested in buy it unlocked, non-branded from carrier if possible, if AT&T or T-Mobile decided to carry it.
however I do like some features like Wifi calling my T-mobile plan. If I did buy it unlocked, Sim-Free, would I be able to add carrier-specific app/service into it later?

T-mobile USA network.
Xperia x10i unlocked + 32GB / Xperia Neo
Xperia TX LT29i
Xperia Z C6606
Xperia L C2104
Xperia M Dual C2004
Currently using Xperia Z1s C6916 (T-Mobile USA)
