Guess what? Today i decided as a second phone as i was tempted. I got the white Xperia Play sim free from Phones4U for £149!! I thought its so much nicer in white and as a second phone at a bargain price why not. If you have a pay as you go sim for more than 6 months you get it for £129. Shocking prices now. But its so much better in white. Got 2 white phones now the GS2 aswell.

Forgive me Esato for I have strayed. Its been 18 months since my last Sony Ericsson, seduced by a cheap Android phone.
But I'm back in SE land now after picking up a play for £129 PAYG. What a bargain.
Sorry if it has been asked before, but I have disabled the stock Message (SMS) app in favour of chomp. However I still get a "1 New Message" notification when the screen wakes before I swipe unlock it. Naturally I have read all messages in chomp but its still there, never increasing from "1 new message".
Any ideas of whether this is fixable - no big deal as if I really have a new message the chomp quick reply box is there anyway. |

Does anywhere sell the play in orange? This was a while back does it actually exist? I might be tempted to snap one up at such a bargain price...

Not sure I have not seen any anywhere & the only time I first knew of it was through Goldenface. Mine was made in 11/wk45 with 2.3.4 installed!! Screen is decent seems brighter than before

between 7-13th of November, that's impressive you must of got a fresh batch! But that's good to hear because it would imply that they are selling a lot of handsets (not that that's surprising at the current price).
I would normally go for the black version, but there is something so sexy about the play in orange
just me?

Looks nice actually!! I just walked into phones4U just looking around & seen it in pay as you go section in white. I said have you definately got them in white. He said yes we only have the white ones in stock. I said great I'll have a white one then I think they are selling cos they sold out online a while ago everywhere. And yet Carphonewarehouse still sell them for £499

Great looking phone, I prefer the white version.
@bono. Don't forget to download the free EA games from the SE site.

Yup, upgrade price. Used my wifes Orange phone number, now running on "3" network since currently Phones 4U are selling totally unlocked phones. Have read a warning from a P2U employee that there may be a "lock to first SIM inserted" batch coming in soon, no idea if true or not.
First impressions are very favourable. Sure it creeks a bit, slider is a bit wobbly when closed etc. But after coming from at-Mobile pulse this is a delight. Working camera that can actually scan barcodes, multi touch screen, can run flash, has enough space to fit more than 6 apps on, ICS upgradable, etc, etc. And the battery life is OK for a smartphone too. Oh, and it can play games
It may not be the best android phone out there. But it surely has to be best value if you can put up with it being a bit chunky. I'd certainly not swap with the Mrs Orange San Francisco. |

I realised now the slider is supposed to wobble slightly when closed. It's put on solidly as it's rock solid when open it's just it's only got the sliders the one side. And mine does not creak at all. When I had the black one I just hated it got mucky in seconds

Yes had a browse last night. What I wanna know is the additional data to download on some games already built in,is there a way of over riding having to download it via Wi Fi?? I don't have Wi Fi in the home & it seems a pain having to go out & do it. I managed Fifa download via network. This video makes the device look nice with the screen looking good.

Well if you have two unlocked Androids running 2.3, put your sim in the Galaxy and connect the Play to it using WiFi. That's one way around it I guess.
