Ok...I flashed my new firmware today. I have a T68m R1A h/w (week 52 2001) with R2B013 s/w. I upgraded to the R5D007 EU s/w from sevenfire's site (10MB) file. First thing I noticed was the increase in speed for the menus and the added features.

Bluetooth is functional. I was at CompUSA and tested a pocketpc to my phone and it discovered it. Also, I was hoping that I would get message delivery confirmation option for my SMS (did not have it in R2B013) but I still don't have it!

However, I am not pleased with my upgrade for the following reasons:
Standby time has decreased to 50 hours which I hate!

Reception is worse! (as if this was even possible as I had poor singal in comparison to other phones on Voicestream's network). I used to get 1-2 bars in my room...now I get...........NONE!

I hope I can find a solution as I do not want to spend more $$$ on logs. This phone has cost me more than its worth in my opinion. Should've sent it to Robb. Oh well...if anyone can help, I would appreciate it.

P.S. - I totally recommend VirtualDynamix. They're fast, reliable and have excellent customer service.

Flashed my phone (t68m R2B013 - R4C hardware 2002 week 23). I flashed with Sevenfies R5D007 (2 parts) firmware. Everything works fine (including bluetooth & standby/talktime). I read somewhere in this thread that it is better to use the 2 part firmware. Maybe it's possible to reflash again using the 2 part firmware ?

Well, just tested my BT and it works fine...

No probs here, flash was 100% successful.

Sow what if they're checking for overwritten firmware....as long as we can still flash ourselves, what's the problem ?

I would like to personally thank everyone who contribuate to this thread. I didn't know much about remote flashing/unlocking before today. After reading the 23 pages of this thread, I felt confident to flash and unlock my phone this morning.

My phone is:

T68i
Original SW: R3A023 Rogers/AT&T Canada Firmware
HW: R5A

This morning I contacted the folks at unlocKing and I got my login/pass within 30 minutes. Then I went to http://www.sevenfire.net/T68.html and I downloaded the R5D007 flash files (2).

I used the "Thai" version of the software/server and it worked like a charm!

Now my phone works just great - my battery life time is intact, my Infrared/Bluetooth/WAP/GPRS works just perfectly.

I unlocked and flashed my phone succesfully. Thanks to everyone here for their precious informations and comments.

x453,

you sure your phone can be discovered? it's because I flashed two Cingular T68i R5A's with the R5D007 EU firmware and both had Bluetooth Problems (can't be discovered).

I tried to flash my friend's T68m today but I was unsuccessful due to their server (unlocking) problem. I have flashed my own and everything was fine. This time when I clicked "flash" from the program it told me that the server is connected, but it's not responding. I had no choice but to disconnect my cable because nothing was responding. It therefore used up my log and I could not continue anymore.

I need to contact them and have them reimburse me another log...

Hi all,

I purchased just a t68i board as i already had a spare casing.
I can get into the service menu to find my software version OK (R2E006).

BUT how can i find out my hardware revision without the aid of the imei sticker?

Is there any way to tell if i have purchased a genuine t68i borad or a t68 board which has been upgraded to a t68i.

please help

Don't flash R5D as it will most likely not correct your battery standby time. I flashed R1A hardware and R2B013 s/w to R5D007 s/w and have functional bluetooth but decreased singal and 50 hour standby. I have yet to figure out what to do to get my standby time back.

I called up my service provider and now I am waiting for a new replacement phone. Hope they give me a T68i - my T68m has always been more trouble than it's worth!

Hey all (especially funks), here's some more info:

1) Orig. T68m, 02w02, R1B....flashed to R5D007: Lost standbye time; BT talked to PC and phone fine...discoverable.

2) Same T68m, reflashed with R2E006 from sevenfire's website; used 1 credit and the language flash method (10mb file); BT perfect, sent file to pc, received file from pc, pc was able to use phone as modem....but most importantly, standby times are way back up 215+....

So funks, here's more info for ya....maybe R5D007EEuro only for R5A hardware or higher? T68m's should go to R2E006? Just stabbing here....

Good luck
