Usually you can get certain info from the network by typing
*(command)# and then click send.
For my operator, if it type in *111# and click send, i receive my account balance and account validity period for my pre-paid connection.
I think that by simply sending *# , it sort of 'pings' the network tower thus refreshing the connection or something like that, and because the (command) bit is missing, you receive an error message

For those of you in Networks that have been asimilated; ie Fido assimilated into Rogers Wireless -or- AT&T assimilated into Cingular; *#123# SEND may give you which of the two networks your currently on.
Important to those of us in combined networks where your SIM only shows your phone the network it was originally for even though you may be on the other, owner, network. That is if all HLR/VLR and other db have been set that way. |

Very strange command.. What would be the purpose of that? Doesn't work for me on Orange NL.
Maybe reset connection with tower or something, or search for new tower??

I am also looking for a way to improve my signal in SE K700 w/ Cingular, USA, but none of those commands (*#send or #send) work for me. Is there any other way to boost the signal?
thanks |
