overall, what are the benefits of upgrading, anyway? 'Coz it seems to me that so many people STILL experience problems despite the upgrades.
also, how much does it usually cost to get it upgraded at Semicon/Ericsson/Smartnet? |

Just got my T39mc from hongkong. Wil upgrading software make it a T39m? Reason is that I'd like to be able to use the T9 English feature. If so, where can I have it upgraded? How much?
Thanks for the help! |

depends on the upgrade... a normal upgrade will just change the software to the newer version, but still no T9 english (if that hasn't been added in the latest version)... if you want to be able to use T9 english you then have to have a different language version on the software. This can be done at the servicepoint, but it might cost around 30USD to have it changed to a different languageversion.

Hi guys,
Just want 2 share some experience and info. I had with my T39m.
Just upgraded my sw few weeks back to R3B006. I had no idea 'bout the previous release I had, but I encounter a slight problem with the display. Whenever I received or made calls, most of the time the display will disappear or distort. The guys from the service centre upgraded my phone to the new sw release, it managed to reduce the problem but now my phone start to "switch off" by it self quite often. Any of you guys out there had the same problem?.... |

Hi there,
This might be a silly question but...here goes. I went to upgrade the SW on my T39 cos there was some problems with the antenna (no network - despite paying bills on time)
When I got the phone back, nothing seems to be changed. My backgrround pic and counters are still the same.
Doesn't upgrading of software erases all these? Maybe the service centre forgot to upgrade it?
Thanks.

nope, it doesn't always erase all these things. you can check the firmware yourself to see if it was done or not!

Hey thanks for the reply. I just thought the service centre ppl didn't do the necessary when i sent it in for servicing.
Well doesn't matter, it's working fine now. As Gowin said, if it ain't broken dont' fix it.
Thanks once again.

Hello dun333 and T39 owners
Since I have R2S i have experienced the SMS issue, then displays MEMORY FULL message, i have noticed that sometimes when i delete sent messages and inbox messages the sms's are able to be readed.
hmmm im considering to upgrade to a latest sofware version, what do you guys think? I use SMS a lot... its annoying when you have to resttart the phone...
regards

I just got my t39 back from a service center in manila after the backlights/ illumination stopped working. It got busted I guess! Now its working fine, except for the sms bug on my phone (which seems to to happen only on my phone). The bug was present on software version R2M and R3A, then R3B when it was upgraded. I hope R4A would eliminate the bug, but I don't have any plans to upgrade it just yet because it would take the service center here in my area about 6 weeks just to do it. |
