i own a S700i & the size of the mms i sent yesterday was 385 kb ...
i sent it.... & after a while the phone told me that the person recived it ... i asked my friend & he said.... coool vid mate....
any way .... it is the network fault i asked my other friend ( he works in that stuff ) & he said that the update "changed" the settings
i think that's what happend .... you can see that issue as solved !!!
any way ..... you'd better get you're self Z800 or a new 3G (SE ) phone as they can send 300 kb's for sure.........
for example .... : nokia S60 (only the 3g's )
Z800.Z1010..... .....
wait till SE will announce a new 3g phone in october ...

Grats

And now wheres the link to the K750's MMS limit. You post must have a purpose i surpose - I just don't see its relevance....

People keep comparing a bug or feature of a newly realesed phone with their old phones. Newsflash people : The new phones usually have changes from older models, besides their names

@the morgue. How did you do the update? Is your phone still branded? I tried to update the Orange FW of my K700 using SEUS but it was still branded when it finished.

Then how do you explain that I can send 300kB MMS from my OLD K500i !!!! Same SIM same operator!!!

I REFUSE TO ACCEPT THIS. IF THE EVOLUTION ON THE PHONES IS TAKING A STEP BACK, THEN DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT THAT I WILL SUPPORT IT!!!
FREE UNLIMITED MMS FOR ALL!!
Morg FOR PRESIDENT!!

...oops! Sorry. Got a litle carried away there! I'm just bored about this now.

Oh! Btw.
I Couldn't send larger MMS than 100kB before the update either!

Here, http://wap.sonyericsson.com/UAprof/K750iR101.xml. Go to the "MMS Characteristics Description" at the end of the document. It's there in the beginning.

An SMS is usually billed at a fixed price, i.e. one SMS = say .19 Euro cents, while an MMS is based on the size of the data. Vodafone, in Germany was charging a fixed price for a MMS but switched to a data packet format. Finland is the same. If you use data, i.e. MMS, then you are billed at the end of the month for the data usage.

Well, at least Finnish operators seem to have fixed price for MMS: TeliaSonera 0.39 €/MMS and Elisa 0.38 €/MMS. So, you're not paying for the data usage.

Fetch document for K750i from...
http://developer.sonyericsson[....]ls/phonespecs/p_phonespecs.jsp

In page 23 under the heading "MMS objects" it says...
"...the maximum size of a picture message is 300kB."

I have to contact SE support again and ask why they sais that the phone is locked to 100kB.

Are we starting to see a solution for this???? ..maybe, maybe...we just have to keep praying and hope!

..of course..Those of you poor guys that have a subscriber that have locked the MMS to 100kB can't do anything.

Yes in the general open specs. They are describing the major differences between a SMS and a MMS - not giving the phones specs. That DOES NOT mean the phone supports it.

All i'm saying is if SE says it only supports 100 kb, then it would be a waste of time trying to figure out it supports larger messages. Sure it says in the white paper that the maximum size is possible to customize but not by any of us.

K700i whitepaper says that the MMS message is limited to 100Kb while I can make an allmost unlimited of kb message ......

Btw you can't compare a P800 and a K750, check with the same phone and from a different shop and for god sake ask your operator or Sonyericsson on the limit before complaining.

Got this answer from SE.
"Generic and operator units default to 100Kb unless a specific settings has been provided."
"All K750i phones in sweden is "generic" units"

@The_Morgue Maybe this is the fw you need. If you sent it away you could request this fw. But enquire first to make sure.

Asked my network subscriber TELIA about this. Just got an answer and they say that the subscription I have supports MMS up to 300kB so the limit is in the phone. They suggest me to contact SonyEricsson or the store where I bought the phone.

As it is right now there is no use of the function under picture message/Creation mode. No difference if I set it on * Limited , * Alert or * Unlimited.
Imo this setting should be the one that either locks the phone to 100kB or alert when its bigger, or in unlimited mode let you create MMS how big you like!
Therefore the firmware now that I have is wrong/faulty (Bug??) imo!

A bug is a function not working as intended by the manufacturer. If the 100 KB limit was put there intentionally by SE then its not a bug. You may of course not be satisfied with the implementation, but that is another story.
