I hope they'll fix that annoying bug of rebooting!& that of phonebook! But,what's going on?All their new phones have new bugs!I mean that in new phones the problems with previous models must being solved! But they insist to make their software buggy!I'm a fan of SE from the age of T68i & always i buy SE phones! But this does not mean that i'm not get angry for their software!By the way,in my opinion,SE must had presented in Cebit camera phones with 3 megapixels resolution!Samsung & Motorola presented 3 phones!

I use unbranded S700 (r3k) with 128 mb Sandisk MS Duo card and dont have the problem. I had this rebooting problem long time ago (r3b), but very rarely. I changed the original MS Duo with one from Sandisk and for this couple of month this problem dont exist. Keep my fingers crossed.

I don't think it's a doggy update!If it was,the phone wouldn't work!The update must be done 100% succesfully otherwise the phone won't work!Also,if all labels in service menu(ITP,CDA,customisation etc)are correct it's 100% sure that it's not a doggy update!So,for o2 customers it's a new software version out(R3L002)Nothing for us,with unbranded phones?Why SE?

SE has a big habit of concentrating on the soon to be released products at the expense of the older ones.

Still no rebooting after upgrading. Phone has not been off for nearly 2 weeks now (been charging it while it switched on as well).

Just got off the phone to se about this rebooting prblem they said its not a known fault with the s700i, so theres no plans for a fix and was told its probabley the handset, but theres too many of us with the same problem, unless everyone with this problem contacts se either by email or phone there will NOT be a fix...!!!
Ive got to send my phone to the postal repair service to check it out will be without my s700i for 7 - 10 days

I have documented the following with my s700i:
It has BT problems in that it sometimes simply disconnects.
It will sometimes have to have the BT turned off and then back on again to work.
It crashes and reboots under BT if I use a USB charger to charge it.
I think that the rebooting might be a problem of power as I can create this error pretty regularly.
SE knows that this is a problem but the guys working on the other phones have to get those right. This is SE's watershed moment and they can make or break the market with the new phones coming out. s700i users, sorry. No time.

Ah well. Thought it was too good to last. My dad has just tried to ring me and my S700 did a short vibrate and then rebooted
Guess the latest firmware doesn't fix the problem either.
EDIT: I've just emailed to see if there will be a fix to the problem. Should be interesting to see what the reply/fobbing off will be.
My email:-
I have owned my sim free S700i since Sept 04 and have previously owned many Ericsson and Sony Ericsson handsets. Ever since I started using the S700i phone it has been really useful and reliable. The only problem I have found is that the phone keeps restarting. Sometimes it would happen internittently and on occasion 4-8 times daily. I have taken my S700i to my nearest Sony Ericsson service center 7 times now and they have always said it is due to a software problem and they have installed the latest software that was available at the time(s). This did not correct the problem as after a week the phone would begin to restart. The last time I handed my S700i into the service center it was away for 5 weeks but eventually I was told that it was again a software fault ????
I've since upgraded the software myself using your online update service but the problem is still present. I know of at least 50 other S700i owners who also have the same problems and more.
Will there be an update soon that will correct this problem ?
I was looking into buying a K750i when it's released but if the ongoing reports of the increase in faults in recent Sony Ericsson handsets continues I will have to make another choice in phone.

Add my name rook. I had mine reboot three times in a row. It was on power, and the phones was connected to my computer via BluePhoneElite. I think the problem has to do with the BT and power. Other than this, it is quite fine.

Pretty much the same here with mine,it rebooted yesterday when trying to send a photo as an mms i had just taken, mine seems to be related to file manager,it only ever seems to reboot when using that feature to look at pics.To be fair all phones have glitches its inherent in most software these days, nokias were famous for the reboot error a while ago.To be honest its a great little phone and ive had much worse, but an update to fix it would be good.

So nice to hear I'm not alone. Have had an unbranded s700i about three months. Reboots often. Mostly when I get a call coming in. Does the screen going blank with greyish pixels at the top thing. Really annoying as call's don't get through when it does it. So finally got a DSS 25 and did the software update tonight but not sure if it has fixed it yet. Said the update had completed successfully but did not tell me what version I had or what version it has upgraded to. Love the phone / hate the phone. Thinking of getting a Nokia instead! |

The one thing that we might be able to do is to make a very public stink about the s700i and recommend that people do not buy the new soon to be released phones. These new phones have the chance to make or break SE and I am quite sure that they are counting on these phones to push them over the top. If we start an email campaign to phone mags, blogs, SE, etc.... they just might think that we are serious. They know that there is a problem with this phone, but either they do not know how to fix it, or they have no time due to the imminent release of the newer phones.
