A small program called Diet MP3 also does the job very nicely.
When I first got my player, I was only able to get an average of 6 songs on the 32MB card, now I can get over 23 songs on that same card! And the sound quality is still pretty impressive considering the size and type of the device that is the HPM-10.

Yes it reduces the size of the MP3 file
Actually it creates a smaller, lower quality copy of the file which you can then transfer to your MMC or SD card.
It shouldn't matter if you're using SD or MMC because it creates new compressed files and you just copy them to whatever device you're using - as long as it's setup with Windows.
I love my HPM-10 more than ever now

2 other nice to know things about your mp3 player...
1. if you have r2b025 or r2e006 software in your phone you can press up once and then hold no for a few secs and then use your phone menus while listening to mp3 (this was removed from r5a020 for no apparant reason :/ )
2. if you get a mini-minijack -> minijack adapter you can plug your own headphones on or even a home stereo (and the sound is as good as it gets... i cant tell the difference between a mp3 played via my sb live (with gold plugs) and my ericsson mp3 player on the same speakers...)
would be nice to have a "dual" minijack adapter... then i could answer my phone on my pc using a mic and the pc's speakers... (i like to play around and use my various electronic devices to the max )

Read a lot about probs with the headphone jack and I had the same prob, it was wobbly, didn't activate the mic or the sound was shite. I just read on another post that you really need to shove the jack in real hard, don't worry about feeling like you're forcing it cos it really does need a good shove. Then it will work as a handsfree and the sound is excellent. |

Are you totally sure you have to reboot? I run XP and I had lots of problems to start. But using the latest drivers and unplugging my printer whilst installing did the trick. I could then plug my printer back in when I rebooted.
As far as taking the card out and putting it back in, I find it doesn't work if I leave windows explorer open but if I close down explorer and leave a few seconds and then put the card in and leave a few seconds more and then open explorer again it works (for me anyway). |

Whatever name is on the mp3 you save is what you see in the phone. If you use realone player to save the tracks it will name them for you - most of them anyway. |

HA! If only! The damn thing looses connection as soon as I start breathing. Anyone got a fix for this bad connection? I used to have the same problems with the handsfree and DI28.
Btw, I record MP3's using VBR. They sound great that way and I managed to get the Complete Robbie Williams "Sing when you're winning" on 32mb. Someone told me it plays MP3Pro as well so somehow it plays almost all formats
Bought it off eBay for 50 euro's, btw!
