Sorri for late reply.
Yeah like my phone. A decent phone at a good price. To be honest was looking for a PDA phone but none were good enough yet. Idea is when my 508i starts coughing and dying 128mB will be unheard of and the camera modules will be well developed.

The I-am-Happy: (1) 128x160 display, 640x480 pics, and the tiny speaker have exceeded expectations (2) theme creator -- my first SE i admit

The not-so-great: (1) The multi-char search is still not there with my AE033 (2) limited applications - so far I can't find a good way to read simple text files off the phone on the go. (3) computer software still not great - should try to steal ideas from FMA, nokia and samsung

I'm back answering my own question with regards to reading text files off the phone *duh*. Found 2 tried and tested applications:

http://www.t41.nl/
enables users to create (at the site) *.jar files from text files. Has smooth scrolling so ideal for reading e-books, as long the colours are well adjusted. I found text 010101 and background D9D9D9 to be quite pleasing to the eyes.

http://tequilacat.nm.ru/dev/br/ref-en.html
allows user to download *.jar shell and add text files into it. Has handy search function (useful for lists etc) and supposedly downloadable fonts.

Hope its useful for ppl with similar needs as me. Both applications don't have backlight control though.

The only difference between them is K508i design more exclusively. The brain exact the same. Both of them sold the same price at Rp. 1.699.000 which 1USD equal Rp. 9.500, so K5xx sold at USD 178 cheap enough here...

the differences I found between k500 and k508 which have not already been mentioned here:

almost every site says that k508 has thickness = 19.5mm or .8 inches compared to k500 14mm or .6 inches..

when it comes to weight . k508 is 88g whereas k500 is 80g

I also read somewhere that k508 screen is smaller than k500 which i think is not true. ..

and here in pakistan .. ppl in the market say that k508 records longer movie clips and k500 doesnt.... absurd

can anyone confirm all this ? and whats with that additional thickness and weight when the models are exactly the same

@adnandcs
508i and 500i are similarly thicker (~19mm) at the top end and thinner (~14mm) at the bottom end. 508 has a different front casing and may be a little thicker (1mm?) at the top end but hardly noticable.

the front casing for the 508i is less plasticy and seems to have a coating over it, perhaps to anti-scratch. This probably contributes to the 8g of additional weight.

screen size and resolution (160x128) is the same.
Firmware is shared so functions are exactly identical.

Many of the k500 themes shows with very dark in colour. Is there a way to reduce contrast in k508?
