Could have sworn I read it on this thread but I guess not. All you frustrated Pxxx users, download Profimail v1.23 from my-symbian (which supports SSL) and Gmail works fine. I've done it. I think, eventually, you have to register it but I haven't yet. BTW changing the DNS address to the IPs revealed by pinging the pop/smtp servers makes no difference - it just won't work with the default email client at all.

Agree. I downloaded and installled Profimail and not Gmail works fine. it's obviously a problem with the Px00 email client. |

Hi ... after insert the correct settings in my P910i the answer from the Gmail service is " Report DND: bad name"
.... Why ... because P910i do not suport SSL!?
Thnx. |

@Guy H,

'ERR [AUTH] username nad password not accepted'
any idea why? did you fill in anything for the advanced settings?

I get the same problem. Don't know what to try next. If anyone can tell me what to configure in profile, that would be great! |

Your username should be yourusername@gmail.com.
In advanced settings, you need to select POP3 port 995 and SMTP port 587, and make sure that you have checked the boxes for:
SMTP authentication
Use SSL for POP3
Use SSL for SMTP
These are my settings and they work like a charm!
Good luck

heh.. I haven't even been able to get gmail to work on my Mac let alone my phone. I have been using ProfiMail for a day and am rather impressed with it.. I just wish SE would get off their butts and stop thinking of email as "Messages" and think of it in the larger sense of "communication". The SE interface no matter how slick it is, still requires third parties to do it right..
Love the Phone, hate the way SE messes it up.... Got a note today from SE tech support, "If you install SymbianOS 9, you void your manufacturers warranty." |

Hi,
I have had Profimail for a couple of months now, works well compared to the SE supplied email client, ok if you want to set it up to poll your servers every 30 minutes or so in the advanced settings, it comes with profi-explorer which is another file explorer/launcher. ( No I have nothing to do with its development I just like it as an alternative email client that can handle pop and imap mailboxes, now if it could yahoo and msn I'd be like a pig in clover

You can do hotmail, through IzySoft. Costs about a tenner for a year's subcription. Just enter your settings with pop3hot.com as your incoming (POP3) server and smtp.pop3hot.com as your outgoing (SMTP) server and Robert's your father's brother. Ports are 110 and 25, as per usual.
Isn't it happy as a pig in shit, or is that just my mate's ruder interpretation?!

I’m using profimail v.2.15 on my p900 and I receiving e-mails without a problem but unfortunately I can’t send.
The error message that I get is ‘Connection time out’ after a long time in initializing step. Any idea why?
The configuration that I use is:
Mail server type :POP3
Incoming mail server :pop.gmail.com
Outgoing mail server :smtp.gmail.com
Username :username@gmail.com
In advance section the following
Secure POP3 login :<unchecked>
SMTP authentication :<checked>
SMTP username :<blank>
SMTP PW :<blank>
POP3 port :995
SMTP port :465 or 587
Use SSL for POP3 :<checked>
Use SSl for SMTP :<checked>
Tnanx!

@zustin
No idea - have you enabled POP3 access through your Gmail account?
@nrgtrap
Uncheck the box for Secure POP3 login

Hi all.. I was successful in logging into Gmail and send email, using Profimail. However, the incoming message server says "no messages", when there are messages in the account. Could anyone help? |

Sorry all, it was a POP setting, nothing to do with the phone. It's working great now! I can now download my Gmail seamlessly on my P910i!! |
